Today was my first time ever having Penn Station. I've seen them in and around Charlotte for years, but decided to stop in Gastonia. Let me start by saying, pack your patience if you plan to visit. I ordered a cheesesteak, and the wait wasn't justified by the number of customers. I can't imagine what will happen when there's a line out the door.
Speaking of doors, they only have one place to enter and exit the establishment. I dint understand why they didn't add a doorto both sides of the little alcove. That would have allowed people to enter on that side and exit on the other. Again, busy days are going to be a nightmare with that setup.
There was a young lady I'd like to commend. She appeared to be a manager/district manger and had her working equipment set up in the lobby. When she saw me waiting for my drink, she eagerly took my cup and filled it with lemonade (which is delish). She also stopped working, popped on an apron, and jumped back behind the counter when things were moving slowly. That's the type of manager I love!
Now on to the food! The cheesesteak, albeit a bit too stingy on the steak for the price, was delicious! It was piping hot and seasoned to perfection. Next time I'll have them gut the bottom of the hoagie because it's pretty thick. If you love bread, you'll adore theirs.
When it comes to fries, I can take them or leave them, but these fries tasted like the ones you get at a state fair...scrumptious! I added some malt vinegar and Lord, why did I do that? YUM! I'm going to have to condition myself to only indulge on cheat day. They were that good!
Anyhow, I pray this isn't a condition of off to a great start, and then business as usual within a few months. That's the case with so many restaurants in this area, which is why I usually visit once or twice and never again. Keep up the...
Read moreThis was my first time here yesterday. I ordered the turkey avocado with extra turkey as well as a Philly cheese steak. The atmosphere was pleasant, it was clean, everyone had smiles and was warm welcoming an & very hospitable. I recommend the extra turkey but the sub was delicious and they weren't stingy with the avocado! All it needed was a little bit of pepper, maybe a little bit of salt (they have these condiments available also). You could have put some cheese lettuce and have lettuce You could have put some more of their seasoned fried onions-- but it was delicious. I don't even know if I put oil and vinegar on there but it was delicious. The Philly cheese steak didn't disappoint me it could use some more peppers a little bit more onions some oil and I would also suggest to get extra meat on that as well. There's nothing wrong with their serving sizes but I'm speaking for the foodies that enjoy eating but also eat to fulfill their appetite. Also there were several people that were just above exceptional *Renee, Christina, Aubrey, Arielle, Eric, Chris and I can't see this name I believe it's Sear't. I'm not sure but all six of them were very welcoming and I think they're an awesome team. Yes I know you're just getting started but I promise when you give this group of individuals a $2-5 raise each. I'm sure they'll keep producing the same results even better as time goes on. You'll be long standing in...

First thing I noticed as a former restaurant manager was the cleanliness, don’t lose that. Restroom was clean. I had a sub my wife had a wrap both were good. All of the staff were welcoming and helpful. Makes you feel as though you’re truly wanted and your business is valued. I can list many in our city that doesn’t meet those qualities. Keep up the good work. We’re planning on returning to eat here again. Oh one more thing as we walked in I noticed two big fresh potato bins They make their fries fresh. Not frozen, that’s a great selling point. Thank you again for great...
