After all day on the river tubing with a family of 7, we needed to stop at DG to grab some snacks, drinks, ear drops etc for our condo. I grab a cart, walk in with my grandma and my 3 year old son. I asked this red hair lady who I now know is supposedly the manager named Michelle if they possibly had a public restroom my 3 year old son could use? She proceeded to throw her bathroom key attached to a ruler at me, which I ignored and rushed my son to the bathroom. I returned her key and proceeded to shop for my $200+ worth of items, I then go to the line to checkout and there’s a Spanish man asking “the manager” for directions she told him once, and he didn’t understand so he politely asked again and she said “I told you once if you can’t understand me I can’t help you, your English is broken not mine.” Which set me off, but I kept my comments to myself. The manager then goes on to tell the lady in front of me that she doesn’t talk to tourists and she doesn’t know why he came in here asking for directions she’s not a map, etc etc. that’s when it was my turn , and “the manager” began throwing my items on the scanner breaking the package of Oreos, that’s when I told her that she doesn’t have any right to be rude to anyone let alone strangers that she doesn’t know. She said “excuse me I know you’re not talking to me” and I looked around knowing there’s no one else but my son and my grandma and I said YES MICHELLE I obviously am talking to you.....THIS WOMEN PICKED UP HER WHITE PHONE AND DIALS 911 .....yes 911 and has the freakin gatlinburg police come to the store. Before the cops arrived, I told her she can start putting my items back on the shelves because I’m taking my money elsewhere and she followed me outside and started taking pictures of my license plate and my husband. I told her there was no need for photos because I’m clearly standing right here waiting on the police to arrive. They came, they saw, they left. The woman is a literal psycho, she ought to be ashamed of herself, her behavior, and the outlook she gives tourists on how locals treat others....
Read moreWell, buckle up, kiddos! Dad's about to lay down the lowdown on the Dollar General in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Now, I'm no big city reviewer, but I know a good deal when I see one, and let me tell you, this place is like a treasure hunt without the map – you never know what you're gonna find!
First off, the location is just peachy. Nestled in the heart of Gatlinburg, it's like a beacon of savings calling out to all us penny pinchers. And the parking lot? Spacious enough for the ol' family station wagon, with room to spare for a game of catch.
Now, let's mosey on inside. The aisles are wider than the Mississippi, and the shelves are stocked higher than a Texas cowboy's hat. They've got everything from A to Z – snacks for the road trip, sunscreen for those sunny days, and even those little travel-sized shampoos that the missus loves so much.
The staff? Friendlier than a neighbor with a pie. They greet you with a smile that's as genuine as a home-cooked meal. And if you need help finding something, they're on it faster than you can say "sale on aisle five."
Prices are so low, you'll feel like you're back in the good ol' days. I picked up a pack of batteries for less than the cost of a soda pop at the diner. And speaking of soda, they've got a selection that'll make your head spin – more flavors than Baskin-Robbins, I tell ya!
Now, no store's perfect. Sometimes the lines can be longer than the wait for the bathroom after Thanksgiving dinner. But with deals this good, it's worth the wait. Plus, it gives me time to crack a joke or two with the folks in line.
Dollar General in Gatlinburg is the bee's knees. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like a kid in a candy store, even if you're just buying laundry detergent. So, if you're in town and looking for a bargain, swing by – and tell...
