To cut to the chase: it was just the two of us, December of 2022, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the Woodshed Getaway. Here’s why:
Starting with the drive up the the narrow road winding up the hill, you definitely know that you are in the mountains. It was an exciting drive. Once on Lucerne Road, the Woodshed is the 4th house on the left, and it’s the last house on the left at the very top of the hill. Because of this, we had a tremendous amount of privacy. No one to the right, and the house on the left is downhill, far enough away, and separated by trees that you barely know they are there until you step out onto the deck.
We had an issue unlocking the door with the code we were given. Late into the night, and after a 10 hour drive, our patience was growing thin. After more than a half dozen unsuccessful attempts, I began scrolling through my portal email looking for a contact number to ask for help. At the very bottom of the portal email I noticed something strange. A little box that cited our code number with a box reading LOCK and another reading UNLOCK. I touched the unlock box and to my surprise it remotely unlocked the door! I tried “lock” box on my portal email and then unlock and they worked. This is a very cool feature which would have been nice to know ahead of time. But we were so excited to get in, it didn’t matter. We’re in.
I found the inside to be absolutely spacious and beautiful. Now let’s define “beautiful.” Was this a millionaire’s mansion like in Ft. Lauderdale? Absolutely not! But considering this home is occupied almost year-long by several hundred different people with as many different reasons for being there, I felt it was in great shape - a high end YMCA if you will, lol. After reading very negative reviews from last year (2021) I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I could easily see that management reacted to those reviews and fixed and corrected the major problem areas mentioned by the review. For example the upper deck above the hot tub was fairly new. The barbecue grill wasn’t that old either and was made of quality iron that was strong and intact. We didn’t not detect any mold at all. The leather couches were obviously worn, but not torn. Lots of extra cushions and pillows made it easy to chill in front of the fireplace.
The kitchen was clean and well stocked with utensils, dishes, etc. We weren’t expecting all that so we had brought our own stuff for cooking. But you won’t need to go to all that trouble if you don’t want to.
The beds were just ok. If you sleep in the downstairs bed you have French door access to the hot tub. If you sleep upstairs, you have your private bathroom with a jacuzzi bath tub and a shower and a private upper deck. We chose to sleep upstairs but had trouble getting comfortable. It wasn’t until we were leaving that we noticed the bed tilted to the right. I’m guessing a board slat slipped off causing it to list. Oh well.
Whether you’re in the hot tub, upper deck, living room or lower deck, the Mountain View’s were amazing!! It was foggy every morning of our stay and watching the clouds blanketing the mountain tops was breathtaking.
If I could recommend a few improvements, it would be for them to fix the ballast on the kitchen light. Had to flip it several times to get it to work. And as one reviewer stated, the closets are full of supplies or portable foldout beds. No room for clothes. Tv speakers are horrible. A cheap sound bar would do wonders.
And finally, a suggestion for the next person to stay: bring some firewood. We used those packaged logs that burn 3-4 hours from Walmart and they suck. I wish I had bought a bundle of real wood to burn with them.
But all in all we had a very positive memorable experience and I highly recommended the Woodshed Cabin to anyone who...
Read moreJackson Mountain Rentals We booked the Springview Cabin located in Sevierville, TN. It was booked for July 3rd - July 6th…
July 4th – No Air Conditioning: We woke to find the air conditioning had stopped working. The cabin was uncomfortably hot and not in a livable condition during the heat of summer. July 5th – Total Power Outage: When we returned around 9:45 PM, the entire cabin had lost power. All refrigerated food was already warm.
Additionally, some of the photos shown online do not accurately reflect the current exterior condition of the cabin. It would be helpful—and more transparent—for Jackson Mountain Rentals to update these images so that future guests have a clear and honest understanding of what to expect upon arrival.
When we called on the morning of July 6, we were told we would only be receiving $50 back. After escalating to a manager, we were offered another $50, totaling only a $100 refund — less than 10% of our total cost, despite losing both comfort and usability of the cabin.
The issues were outside our control and due to poor property management and communication.
We incurred additional unexpected costs and stress during a trip we had planned and paid for in full.
We had to play phone tag with Jackson Mountain Rentals… the first person they sent out was unable to do anything about the issue and shortly after he called the power company… and left. No one showed back up but we were told to wait for a phone call… another 45 minutes passed and we called back and instructed to wait againn. Our cabin was the only one without power in there area
Our experience with Jackson Mountain Rentals was extremely disappointing. By the time we spoke with a second representative, it was nearly 11:30 PM. We were told there was no need to move us to another cabin that night, leaving us once again waiting without resolution. A third representative we spoke with was more understanding and genuinely seemed to want to help. However, we were informed that all properties affiliated with Jackson Mountain Rentals were fully booked and there were no alternative accommodations available. No offer was made to assist us with hotel arrangements—instead, we were left to figure it out on our own.
Eventually, we spoke with another staff member who stated that the issue appeared to be that the cabin owner had not paid their power bill. We were instructed to pack only what we needed for the night and return in the morning to retrieve the rest of our belongings. Upon returning the next morning, we had to call again just to receive a new door code. We were asked to estimate how long we would be at the property, making us feel rushed after what was already a stressful situation.
There were six of us needing accommodations, and we ended up paying $160 out of pocket for two hotel rooms at $80 each—an expense we hadn’t planned for, especially considering we had already paid $1,067 for our cabin.
When we contacted Jackson Mountain Rentals again on Sunday morning, we were initially told we would receive only a $50 refund. I requested to speak with a manager before continuing the conversation. The manager offered an additional $50, totaling just a $100 refund.
After multiple calls between Jackson Mountain Rentals and Airbnb, we were finally refunded for one night and given some compensation for food that was ruined due to the power outage. However, we were never reimbursed for the cost of the hotel rooms we were forced to pay for ourselves.
Given the lack of accountability, the poor communication, and the inadequate resolution to a serious issue, we will not be renting through Jackson Mountain...
Read moreWe booked a cabin for a family trip and were shocked by the condition of the property and how horribly the situation was handled. The cabin had multiple active leaks throughout. We walked in to find a pot in the kitchen catching dripping water, water damage on the floor, and a trash can placed in the master shower to collect a leak. Water was leaking directly onto the queen bed in the downstairs bedroom — completely unsafe and unusable. We were later told by both customer service and management that maintenance had already been aware of these issues before we arrived.
The problems didn’t stop there. The master bathroom was dusty and dirty, with visible mold inside the tub jets. The kitchen counter was broken. The windows and window seals were filthy. The living room ceiling fan didn’t work, and the arcade machine was missing its power cord, making it unusable.
I was traveling with six kids, including two who are medically compromised, and mold exposure presented a serious health risk. Management’s response was to tell us to “wait for maintenance,” which either never showed or couldn’t fix anything. We were told there were no other available rentals and that if we left, we wouldn’t get a refund for 7–10 days — leaving us stranded in another state with no options.
Only after demanding that they find us safe housing did they offer a second property. We were told it was brand new and never rented, but that turned out to be a lie — a bachelor party was checking out when we arrived, and we had to wait for them to leave before we could move in. That second cabin was better structurally but still not clean, and both refrigerators were broken. We also found underwear from the last guests still outside. Trash from the previous guests had been left outside — animals got into it and scattered garbage all around the property, which sat there for two full days before anyone cleaned it up. This also a hazardous due to the fact it could attract bears and other wildlife and with kids this was unacceptable.
All of this caused us to lose two full days of our five-day vacation. Most heartbreaking, I missed a once-in-a-lifetime reunion at Dollywood with my aunt from California, who I haven’t seen in over six years. She was only in town for that one day — and we lost it trying to deal with this disaster.
To top it off, on the day of checkout, cleaning staff showed up early and had no idea we had been granted a late checkout. This shows a complete lack of communication across the company.
And other than that late checkout, nothing was done to remedy the situation. No discount, no compensation, no real apology. Just excuses and indifference.
This experience was stressful, unsanitary, unsafe, and completely mishandled. For the amount of money we paid, what we went through is inexcusable. I would never recommend this company or property to anyone.
My response to Jackson Mountain Rentals: No one promptly inspected any! We had to spend the night in the leaking house because there were no other options and we had to wait hours before we got approved to move to another location. No one came and inspected any while we were there. They didn't need to since the issue was ALREADY documented by your maintenance staff. I lost time with a family member I don't ever get to see and I will never get that time back. Just because we were moved to another upgraded house make up for you placing us in a rental that was UNLIVEABLE is unacceptable.
We had contacted the cleaning crew/ customer several with the other issues at the house...
