We stayed at Scenic Solitide, a delightful cabin with space for many more than the two bedrooms would lead you to expect. There is an enclosed outdoor hot tub, a couple great views, a theatre room and a DETACHED garage with a giant game room, two sleeper sofas and a full bathroom. It was immaculately clean. Our issues are with the company, not the cabin. The cabin itself was a 4.5.
We booked this cabin specifically for it's layout for my stepdaughter's 16th birthday. We brought both boy and girl friends along and had the boys set to stay in the detached garage game room for the same of appropriateness. However, when we arrived we found quite a bit of water all over the bathroom floor and a toilet that sprayed water whenever it was flushed.
We called immediately and let the staff know. They had been so friendly and helpful up until this point that we never expected any trouble getting someone out to address it. I emphasized how important the bathroom was to the appropriateness of the situation, not to mention the safety of having boys walk from the game room to the main house in the middle of the night in bear country. They assured me they would send housekeeping out right away to clean things up (there was also leftover beer in the game room fridge, making it pretty clear it was not cleaned) and maintenance to address the toilet repair. Housekeeping came out right away, did NOT clean anything, and shut the water off. I called two more times begging someone to please come fix the toilet as use of this room was an important part of a girl's sweet sixteen weekend. Each time they promised they would call back and didn't.
I started calling again early the next morning. Spoke to someone else who told me maintenance wasn't available until 10 am. I called a total of 3 times and begged someone to ACTUALLY CALL ME BACK and address the situation. At this point, we were cutting hours into our limited time to go enjoy Gatlinburg. Once maintanance came, they were extremely pleasant and fixed the issue within minutes. They also let it slip that there was a plumber scheduled to come out the day after our stay to address plumbing issues. So... they knew this was going to be a problem, let us check in without notifying us, AND ignored us when the issue happened.
I will not be trusting this company with my vacations EVER again. They're the worst kind - the ones who pretend to offer excellent customer service and then don't care one little bit about what you actually need. If a manager had called me back ANY of the times I asked for it, this could have been a much different review, because...
Read moreThis review is for Aiden's Escape cabin, now known as 4 Creek Rest cabin. The check-in process was easy and the cabin was ready early. Communication with Stony Brook was great. We are not sure what the updates to the cabin are, except for the pristine new hot tub. The carpet in the closets was dirty and in bad shape, but it was wonderful to have tile throughout the house. The fireplace and TV did not work and when we reported it to Stony Brook, a repairman was sent out immediately. A day later the fireplace was fixed. Stony Brook told us a storm had knocked out HD Direct TV reception, but there was not a storm. Later we were told the new owners are not paying for it. The marketing description clearly stated HD Direct TV was available throughout the cabin and in all 4 bedrooms and we felt mislead. We had plans to watch the UGA game and the Braves playoffs. We were very happy to have the cabin available early for that reason and we were extremely disappointed. The layout of the cabin is great and the surrounding private wooded area is beautiful. The fire pit was perfect since the weather had turned cool. There was plenty of seating, which did appear to be new, around the fire pit and plenty of seating on the deck. Three bear cubs and mom were in the yard and later 4 baby raccoons and mom and dad paid a visit. The raccoon family came out of the large drain pipes at the edge of the stream. The kitchen had plenty of storage areas for supplies, the island provided workspace, an eating area and enough room for everyone to gather or help cook. There is a second table near the larger table that was great to use for games/cards, puzzles, or additional seating for meals. The cooktop did not heat evenly. The grill on the deck needed serious cleaning as the flare-ups from the grease could cause a fire. The cabin is very nice and having the four king bedrooms/baths, plus a half bath on the main level, was perfect for our family. We were able to find a petsitter at the last minute, but I appreciate the cabin is pet friendly making it easier for us to return. It is a very comfortable cabin for our 6 adults and a small child. A place to make memories! We will most likely come back to this cabin or another Stony...
Read moreWe were looking for a small cabin that was dog friendly and were so glad we found Stony Brook Cabins. Our whole experience with them was excellent. The staff answered all our questions when we called to make reservations. Once reservations were made, they keep you informed with helpful information such as nearby grocery stores, restaurants, and fun things to do. Check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly. They provided a gift card that could be used at one of four different restaurants and a pass for one that could be used at different attractions. They also said if there was any problems with the cabin to be sure and let them know. We had no issues with the cabin. They told us of a close public park where we could walk our dog. Check out was easy. Just close the door. No having to go back to the rental facility. Probably the best part of this company was the fact that the cabin was super clean, neat, and orderly. When you rent a dog friendly cabin, you don't always know what to expect, but our cabin had no doggy smells or smells of urine.
We stayed at Autumn Breeze. The location was ideal for us because it was just outside of Gatlinburg and was very private. It was located in the woods on the side of a small mountain. There was no view of the mountains, but the beautiful trees which were changing color made it peaceful. There were 3 decks all private. We really liked the cabin. The set-up was perfect for us as we could stay on one floor. The whole side of the living area was glass and opened to the deck. The one flaw was the cabin was a bit dated and could have used better silverware, pans, and coffee mugs. That being said, everything was in working order and was super clean. We have rented places in different states, but Stony Brook has to be the best and most efficient rental agency we have ever dealt with. We would definitely rent...
