We've stayed at camp leconte twice. First time as a four day family smoky mountain summer trip. This stay was just a night stop over on the way to the Biltmore.
It is very convenient to the park and gatlinburg. The gatlinburg city trolley even has a stop out front.
The grounds are very nice and clean. Enough space on our pull through site for our slides and awning. There is a provided picnic table and fire ring. Full hook up 50 amp service. Gravel pad was level and plenty long for 40 ft class A and tow vehicle.
The pool (summer visit, not open last week of march) was big enough for the kids to enjoy. There is a covered common patio with ping pong table and bags game set up.
Doggie bags (pet waste) stands around the grounds. No pet waste was observed left around the grounds. Campers kept their dogs leashed; no excessive barking heard during our stay.
The folks staying at leconte were friendly, kept their sites picked up, and were respectful of quiet hours. Seemed like mostly families in the rv sites with some young fellas staying in the primitive section.
Bath house was VERY nice and new. Multiple toilets and shower stalls (which were handicap accessible and small ramp up to sidewalk). You know the normal water on the floor at the end of the night, but well stocked and clean. Laundry machines worked very well.
Check in process was quick and easy with online reservations. Late check in paperwork left in a basket at the store/bathhouse. Available sites for folks with no reservations were listed on a chalkboard with other helpful info. Employees/hosts at the counter were helpful and easy to deal with. Camp store was nice but small and had the basics. Firewood and ice available at the store.
Only complaint is the road noise while we are outside. This is on a multilaned highway with semis going by at full speed at all hours. Though we were at the front of the park, we sleep with our ac unit's fans running and had no...

Read moreSince the pandemic started my two 6 year old daughters have been asking about "glamping". We found this place based on a parenting blog that I follow and decided to check it out. We stayed in Tree House 1. The main reason we went with the tree house is because of them having a bathroom with a shower inside of them. My daughter tends to go to the bathroom a lot at night and I didn't feel like making the trek to the bath house at 4 am. Also with young kids, it's easier to shower them in our own personal bathroom. The treehouse has a small bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower. There is a large bed and a loft area with a mattress pad. Be aware that there is electricity, but no heat or air conditioning. Instead of windows, the walls of the treehouse are screens.............similar to a large screen porch. We chose a weekend in October in hopes to enjoy some fall weather and see the leaves changing color. During our weekend, it dropped to about 40 degrees at night and it was cold in that treehouse. We had blankets, sleeping bags, and a heated blanket to keep us warm at night. We cooked most of our food at the fire pit outside the treehouse. There is also a charcoal grill. I will admit that you are above the camper area of the resort and the sound does travel up but I did not find it annoying. Be aware the this is very close to the parkway and another side road and you will hear traffic throughout the night. Even though it was cold at night, we all had a great time and I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a camping experience along with some...
