Our new favorite rock shop- My family has been to rock shops in various parts of the country. Smoky Mountain Minerals is the overall best rock shop we have ever visited (and we checked out all the local rock shops today). There is something for everyone, whether you are a serious rock enthusiast or are just looking for a special souvenir from your trip to Gatlinburg. They have beautiful things for sale from all over the world, and Olie and Cindy Miller, the husband and wife team behind Smoky Mountain Minerals, are as warm and friendly to talk to as they are knowledgeable about their stock. Their selection was so impressive that between the 4 of us, we kept finding new, can't-live-without treasures until we literally had a box full, which they very carefully wrapped and boxed up for us so that everything would make it home safely. My teenager could not say enough wonderful things about our whole experience in their store (and he is hard to impress), and he wants to come back to Gatlinburg every year just to come back to this shop. After stopping into smoky mountain minerals #2 Olie mentioned that he and his family have another shop out in the arts community of Gatlinburg, and mentioned that they had a gem mine as well.(something I really wanted to do here) so of course my family and I had to stop in! This was such a wonderful experience, not only for our kiddo but for my husband and I as well. Cindy and Olie and their family have created something so special, and In a town of tourist attractions, this truly felt like a part of the true roots of gatlin. This location as a whole, every shop we stepped foot into we had such heart warming interactions, and it’s something you truly have to come experience...

Smoky Mountain Minerals was such a fun and wholesome experience for our whole family. Not only are the prices affordable, the jewelry is beautiful and you can tell their heart is in this business. The wonderful couple that owns it were so helpful answering my questions and curiosities. I enjoyed getting to hear about the unique rocks and gems we found from our buckets, while also being educated on them. Their son runs a second location in Pigeon Forge and we had a wonderful visit with him inquiring about custom jewelry we'd like to have made. This was the highlight of the trip for me!
