We signed up for our membership on March 10, 2020. We signed up for the Blue membership at $20 per person per month plus personal training for x1 per week and we would be charged $68 every two weeks per person.
On March 16, 2020 due to COVID, they were forced to shut down.
I called in May 2020 to cancel our membership due to the fact that my 84 year old grandmother with cancer lives with us for who’s life I am not willing to risk because of a gym ( We have already lost family and friends to this virus and I am not about to risk one more).
The first time I (Katherine) called I was told that I would have someone call me back, and no one ever did. Then, I called back and someone at the front desk told me that I had to call the 1-800 number in order to cancel the membership. I called the 1-800 and then was told that they were not able to cancel because I had personal training and before we could cancel the membership we had to cancel our personal training.
I called the gym again, and asked to cancel the personal training, and was told that the fitness manager was not available but that they would give me a call back. Which no one ever called. I spoke to the membership manager and she informed me that at this time I was passed the 30 day notice to cancel so I would be charged for the month of June ($40). Which I understand.
However, my issue comes down to now being charged $412.00 for a gym/ PT that I am never going to use/have used and have been unable to cancel, even more so now that COVID is on the rise in AZ. Additionally, the lack of communication from management is completely unprofessional. If you tell a customer that you will call them back by the end of day, you should call them back if not EOD then first thing the next morning.
Finally, Andrew was forced to go in to the facility on June 18, 2020 because of the lack of communication from the fitness manager Jack who said he was going to call us back on Monday (June 15, 2020), with an answer from his superior and never did. Which by the way, he mentioned to me on Monday that this was the first time he had heard about me calling to cancel ( After I had been calling already for WEEKS). The answer that Andrew received from the fitness manager, was that because of the contract, there is no way they will refund us for the personal training (which we have NEVER used) but that they will put an automatic cancel on the personal training so that we would no longer be charged again and that they will save our personal training sessions for us to use when we decide we would like to come back. By the way, we were charged AGAIN TODAY (after we were told there would be no more charges)!!
At this time, we will never be returning to your establishment. Your team has been nothing but unprofessional, putting your business needs over the needs of your customers. Never have we had such a difficult experience with a gym membership in the past, and we want to ensure that others become aware of your unprofessionalism and to be quite frank deceitful practices because it' feels like from the moment I called requesting to cancel, I have been given nothing but the run around.

Read moreI’ve had a membership to eos for years. I absolutely LOVE these facilities at this location. They have everything there you could possibly want, amazing accomplishment because the gym itself it a bit smaller than what I’m used to but they made it work. My daughter loves the daycare, which has been a challenge for us at other facilities, but never this one. The staff have all been wonderful, playful a silly with me. I rather enjoy this gym and I drive 30 minutes, passing 3 other gyms, just to attend this specific gym.
On 8/7 I was speaking with the front desk manager about the location of the protein cookies being right in front of the daycare center. I inquired why they were not located in a different area, due to my daughter asking me to buy her a cookie each time we left the gym. I was informed I was NOT the first parent to bring this issue up. One of the staff pushed the stand back 5 feet and we all thought that would be a great resolution. 5 feet back pulls it out of the view of the kids exiting the daycare AND put it next to the other protein snacks for sale.
Manny, the store manager, came out of no where yelling at the staff member who moved the cookie stand. I tried to come to the staff members defense and let him know it happened because of my questioning. He calmed down and gave me some BS excuses (twice) and I told him that I felt like he thought I was stupid the way he was speaking to me with his contemptuous language. He got mad and started being rude with me saying, “It will be moved back as soon as you leave. I will not keep it there.”
Manny was obviously jacked up on too much Creatine because he quickly blew his fuse and aggressively picked up the cookie stand and moved it back to its original position. He was clearly yelling at me and I looked at the staff, who were all as dumbfounded about this exchange as me. Manny’s behavior dawned on him and he told me to stop yelling at him. I was not yelling at this guy at all. I was actually laughing at his explosion. I walked up to view his name badge to inform his supervisor of his explosion, he asked my name and informed me he needed to make comments on my profile about the interaction. OK, blame it all on me, sure guy.
My friend and I left in great spirits and laughed about this situation. After leaving it dawned on me that this guy has all of my information and he is completely unstable. Wonderful. He exploded on me in front of my daughter, his staff and my friend making a huge scene over the location of cookies. Really dude? Even my friend cracked a joke about how poor his customer relations were.
I really like this gym, I hope they find a more stable manager for it sooner than later.
Update: The area supervisor contacted me to apologize and let me know I could call him back on his cell should I ever need to. He addressed the issue respectfully and was a delight to speak...
