"In the endowment, members are invited to make sacred covenants as follows:
Live the law of obedience and strive to keep Heavenly Father’s commandments.
Obey the law of sacrifice, which means sacrificing to support the Lord’s work and repenting with a broken heart and contrite spirit. Obey the law of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which means:
Exercising faith in Jesus Christ. Repenting daily.
Making covenants with God by receiving the ordinances of salvation and exaltation. Enduring to the end by keeping covenants.
Striving to live the two great commandments. These are to “love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” and to “love thy neighbor as thyself” (Matthew 22:37, 39).
Keep the law of chastity, which means abstaining from sexual relations outside of a legal marriage between a man and a woman, which is according to God’s law.
Keep the law of consecration, which means that members dedicate their time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed them to building up Jesus Christ’s Church on the earth." The Church Handbook
There are no secrets. Those who prepare well for the Temple will always be received well. If the desire of your heart truly is to draw closer to God, your Father in Heaven, then I would expect you to seek help preparing through your local missionaries.
If you have no interest in preparing, then there is no reason for you to be upset about not being prepared enough to enter the Holy House of the Lord. It is not our choice to hinder you from entering the temple. It is yours. One of the greatest gifts God has given us is agency. So choose now whom you will build your foundation upon. The world? Or the Being...
Read moreTemples have always been part of worship, from the earliest days of Adam and Eve at the alter and all through the Old Testament. It was to the temple that the Christ child went to learn and to teach, and that Christ during His ministry cleansed and purified. This building is so beautiful! As I walked into the first entrance off the lobby, I could feel a sense of peace settle through me. It was like the sounds of the world were turned down as if the volume on a radio was being turned down. The stone and wood work through out were of amazing. My favorite are the opposing mirrors in the hallways and many of the rooms, representing a view of forever. The main chandelier was breath taking. In all, the beauty comes closest to what I envision heaven itself to be as can be here on this mortal earth. I was grateful that many of my family were able to be there too, as some of the main purposes of the temple surround the family, I felt that to be very fitting. I loved it. And btw - there is no...
Read moreI absolutely love the Gilbert LDS Temple. It’s stunning inside and out and always feels peaceful and serene. The design reminds me of a giant, glowing sugar cube, especially at night, and the inside is always refreshingly cool thanks to the strong AC (which is a huge plus in Arizona!).
Some of the lower reviews seem to misunderstand how temples work. The temple is open to the public during open houses before it’s dedicated, but after that, access is limited to those who hold a current temple recommend. This isn’t about excluding people it’s about preserving the sacred nature of what happens inside. The grounds, however, are always beautifully maintained and open for everyone to enjoy.
Whether you’re a member or just admiring the architecture, this temple is truly a gem in Gilbert. A peaceful, sacred space that lifts your spirit just by being near it.
