Gladstone Mercantile — Local services in Gladstone

I would like to rate this place more than one star, but felt very unwelcome the moment my daughters and I walked in. I noted the sign and made sure to keep an eye on my two young ones as they walked around fascinated by all the wonderful vintage items and they certainly were grateful to be in such a unique place.

The owners did not acknowledge us much and one woman proceeded to follow us around which made me feel uncomfortable since we were doing our best to be careful. Not once was I greeted warmly and when my oldest daughter placed the younger one on a chair to play a small piano we were scolded immediately and then in a passive aggressive way ushered out.

Needless to say we won’t be returning.

Edit: I received a reply from the owner claiming to clear up any misunderstanding with “facts” and this response is pure gaslighting. Again we were never greeted upon entering this store (as they were busy chatting amongst themselves or with another customer) and their attempt to say otherwise is...

I could spend hours in here! An amazing and wide assortment of antique/vintage curiosities and collections. I would highly recommend making this a frequent stop for any vintage aficionados and collectors. I never felt rushed or watched and the staff is kind, available and approachable. It is a tight space with lots of merchandise so big bags should be left in the car/home as to avoid knocking something over, like I did 🫣 There's plenty of street parking available.
