Service was amazing!!! Steven was so kind and responsive Samosa was THE BEST I've ever had. The sauce was so flavorful and the right amount of sweetness. Chicken Masala was my favorite!!! I got medium spice. Sooooo flavorful and lots of it. Wow wow wow. Juicy tender chicken Curry was good, heaping portions! I got medium spice. I think like 7 thighs and 2 massive potato halves. Also very tender! I do wish the sauce was thicker and stuck to the rice more but the flavor was great! Shrimp vindaloo was good. I got the spicy level. I think it came with 8-10 jumbo shrimp. Very flavorful too, just wish the sauce was thicker and stuck to the rice more. Overall, I will ABSOLUTELY come back here. It's 10 mins from me and the service was great. If you're in a rush, call ahead. I think we waited about 35 mins for 3 large dishes. Parking is limited to about 4-5 spaces. Honestly the wait was not bad considering we arrived within an hour of closing! Next time I will likely just get 2 dishes, samosa and garlic naan

GO HERE!!!! The food is INSANELY good. We eat out just about everywhere in PDX and just about every week and 1000% can say this is one of our favorite places. It is a true hidden gem. Stephen also provides the most absolute best service ever as well, he literally treats you like you are family and has the best attitude ever with his customers. He shakes your hand, offers to take the food to your car, and is honest and genuine about his food. If this place was a full blown restaurant it would be without a doubt packed with customers. The Chicken Masala is AMAZING, the Naan bread is incredibly good, and everything is FRESHLY made to order so please order ahead in advance! Samosas are incredible and the mango smoothie is to die for. This place puts serious dedication into their food.

Glad to find this gem! Have been craving chicken masala and was delightful to find a place close by in downtown Gladstone with authentic options. We got the chicken masala curry which was very traditionally prepared, and the chicken diced masala that had a thicker sauce and a more savory/spicy flavor. Both were excellent but I preferred the diced option. Steven was so patient in helping us navigate the menu, made us feel very welcome, and was kind enough to pose for a pic. Along with ice cream and milkshakes, they sell another Gladstone local’s sweet treats: Laurie’s “crack” corn — yum!! We love to support local business and will definitely be going back for more here soon :)

This is the best food I have ever had!!! I was Hesitant at first but I tried it and was blown away and in the past week I have had almost every meal except breakfast (which I usually skip) here at masala box!!! I live very close within walking distance and the prices are amazingly fair for the quality and quantity of food that you get. The owners are the most incredibly nicest people I have honestly ever met in my life and really show their passion in the food that they make I plan on eating here as much as I possibly can because it’s extremely healthy and is so filling! I usually get the Chicken Masala Curry full size and it usually takes care of me for dinner and lunch the next day the way I have it prepared is one step above medium so it’s got some really good heat and absolutely AMAZING AND DELICIOUS flavor!!!! I will definitely recommend as many people as possible to come enjoy the some truly authentic Indian cuisine that is made fresh every day with the best ingredients. I have had many other experiences with “ authentic “ Indian cuisine and nothing can ever hold a candle to the Absolute perfection that is served at the Masala Box. To be 100% honest when I enjoy a meal here I feel like a part of a family. From the bottom of my heart I thank you for just...

BEST INDIAN FOOD IN THE PORTLAND METRO AREA! Thank you so much for making the decision to buy and open up this hidden jewel! We appreciate the pride you have in your cooking to keep it small and made by you the owners. We love supporting local family run businesses like ours. Unbelievable flavors! Each dish was packed with flavor and unique spices. We will be back as often as possible. Next time my wife and I will each order our own Chicken Paratha, since I wouldnt let her have much. It was my favorite dish. The samosas were excellent, so much flavor. Chicken Currry was amazing to have so many huge pieces of chicken thigh, and the flavor was rich! Chana Masala was original with a hint of cinnamon to set it apart. We are so glad we ordered the large so we can enjoy the left overs this week. To everyone out there, DO NOT LET the inside setting turn you off. Totally casual, just some tables and chairs and food served in to go containers. Believe me you will appreciate the value when you taste the high class restaurant quality flavor. Cant wait to call ahead and bring it home to the family! It is located on Arlington just past Portland Ave set back...

Finally I have found a reason to no longer drive downtown or over to the west side for Indian food. This place is amazing. It may not look like somewhere for Indian food or have servers, multiple seating options etc but it is by far the best Indian food I have eaten since Bombay on Hawthorne closed. The samosas were exactly how I believe a samosa should be, crispy on the outside and full of flavour on the inside. Followed by the Chicken Aloo Paratha. Huge chunks of potato, fall apart chicken, spiced to my desire sauce and a bread that soaks it all in. When I ordered the owner let me know it would take about 10 minutes. I had no problem with this at all when I realised he was cooking it all fresh.

I have noticed some comments regarding price. Personally I think it was worth every penny. The meal is large enough for plenty of leftovers and it's cooked to order, not pulled from a massive heat tray.

I only wish I had more time to sit and chat with the owner. His World travels will amaze you. Just ask him where his favourite place has been in travelling the World twice, the answer should...
