The moment you walk through the doors, it’s like you’re whisked away to Hawaii. From the laid-back ambiance to the tantalizing smells of authentic Hawaiian flavors, everything about 808 Cheesecake and Shaved Ice transports you to a tropical paradise.
Let’s start with their cheesecake doughnuts. I’m not exaggerating when I say they’re life-changing. Imagine biting into a soft, fluffy doughnut that’s perfectly balanced with the creamy richness of cheesecake filling. It's not just a dessert—it’s an experience, and hands down the best you’ll ever have.
And then there’s the breakfast bowl, which is a masterpiece in every sense. Packed with fresh ingredients and bold flavors, it’s what breakfast dreams are made of. In fact, I love it so much that I have it a few times a week! Seriously, it’s the perfect breakfast bowl. Every bite is satisfying and energizing, jump-starting your day with a smile.
As if that wasn’t enough, their shaved ice is on another level. Forget what you think you know about shaved ice—this is the softest, most flavorful treat you’ll ever encounter. It’s refreshing, indulgent, and somehow manages to top off the entire experience perfectly.
What truly sets 808 Cheesecake and Shaved Ice apart, though, is the owner. He’s the heart and soul of the place. Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely kind, he treats every customer like family. Whether he’s chatting with you about life or just making sure you’re happy with your meal, his passion for people and his craft shines through. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to not just great food, but also to creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
I wouldn’t take the time to write such a detailed review if it wasn’t this good. 808 Cheesecake and Shaved Ice isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a mini-vacation. From their mouthwatering dishes to the warm, family-oriented vibes, it feels like you’ve escaped to Hawaii, even if just for a little while. Read moreThe first time I went here I went back later that day for more! Hubz and I sampled the Lilikoi (Passion fruit) Danish, Vanilla Puffy, and went back to try the Chocolate Puffy. The Passion Fruit Danish showcases that sweet fruit twang with a delightful filling.
The Puffy is a filled puff-pastry, almost like a turnover, but they fill it with the smoothest pastry cream after the shell is baked golden. It's light, and the chocolate was worth going back for. Hubby mentioned, "The chocolate is refreshing." As most bakeries (including B.S.) are using a powdered delicrem' base, I appreciate the care that this is made from scratch.
Drip coffee give'n them Aloha vibes but looks like they're on board of espresso. I appreciate the mellow flavor of the house blend and it's really perfect for those island shack pastries.
Something the owner is known for is his amazing cheesecakes. I've been to several events where we were lucky enough to have mini cheesecakes catered. The mini cheesecakes are the perfect personal size. I've had the Lilikoi and Pumpkin Hapua recently and I'm obsessed. I never knew how well coconut and pumpkin go together.
We need more restaurants like this in the Gladstone/ Milwaukie area! 808 Cheesecake is new gem...
Read moreI ordered a 7" Lilikoi (passion fruit) cheesecake and it was honestly the best cheesecake I've ever eaten. Like, ever. The owner is really friendly, and he's obviously very talented, because this thing was a slice of paradise. The Lilikoi curd was to die for, and the cheesecake was fluffy, flavorful, and holy (insert expletive of choice), it was tasty! The graham cracker crust was obviously delicious, because it was a graham cracker crust. Hard to go wrong! However, they also have other cake bases, like butter mochi cake, carrot & pineapple cake, brownie, etc. I will 100% be back to order a 9" strawberry guava cheesecake, because as I always like to say, if seven inches makes you smile, nine inches will drive you wild. ahem
Anyhow. When I came in to pick up my order, they had some pastries on hand, and I got a strawberry guava long-john. Think of it as an eclair on steroids. It was, unsurprisingly, orgasmatronic (are you noticing a pattern??). If I ever win the lottery, 808 Cheesecake will end up dedicating a statue in my honor after I eat enough cheesecake to put their kids through college and subsequently die of a tasty, tasty heart attack with a very satisfied smile on my face. It's going to be a...
