Let me start off by saying that I do not write reviews about anything, but I felt truly compelled to write about this apartment complex. If you are looking to rent an apartment out of Crain Court, LOOK ELSEWHERE!
Bed bugs are a HUGE problem! Whoever came to "treat" my apartment the first time did not do a thing! They left a card saying that the apartment was treated, but after a week, I went to the leasing office to make notice that nothing was done and then we got an actual notice to pack up our things to have our apartment treated twice. May I ask what was done the first time then?? Now, after having our apartment already treated, we have to have it treated again for preventative measures. I guess after so many complaints (probably from other tenants) they finally decided to treat our whole building! Why was this not done from the first sign of them in the complex? Maybe if they inspected properly to begin with, this may have been avoided. In addition, in our apartment we find roaches daily in our kitchen. Oh, and a mouse.
My AC was broken for about three weeks in total and over the course of that time, we had maintenance workers in and out of my apartment "fixing" the unit. Do I fault them for trying? No, I am very appreciative that they fixed it. That being said, my problem is it felt like there was no sense of urgency in terms of getting it fixed. It was 86 degrees in my apartment for several days over the course of that time, but they would only consider it an emergency if it was 90 degrees and above.
If you can avoid renting from the Maryland Management Company, please do so. They do not seem to care about their tenants at all. If you do not believe me, go check reviews for that as well. The last few reviews for this apartment complex are all negative, take that into consideration.
Bottom line: Avoid Crain Court and the Maryland...

A list of problems we experienced in our time at Crain Court:
Kitchen floor flooded the week after we moved in. Repair guy said the dishwasher wasn't installed properly. We had these massive, loud machines in our living room for a week to dry out our torn up kitchen. Bed bugs, roaches, and mice. I have never had bed bugs before living here, but we were treated more than 5 times. They would treat our unit individually and then only weeks later come back to do our whole building, at which time we would AGAIN have to pack up and clear out all our belongings. AC broke in the middle of summer and we were forced to live in upper 80 temps inside for over 1 week. Yes, over 7 days. They were unwilling to come out to look at the AC on an 88 degree day because it's not "an emergency" below 90.
After my original review months ago, Kelly called my roommate and told him she would not respond to me publicly because she would be fired (implying that she would be incredibly disrespectful). The icing on the cake is that they threw away my calendar from the kitchen before I even turned in my keys. The new property manager (there's one every month or so basically) blamed it on me, saying that most people don't even turn in their keys, so how was she "supposed to know I was still there".
You can do better in this price range,...
Read moreI have lived here 8 months now, and I love it here.
While this is definitely not your "top notch" luxury apartment, it is perfect for me and my two cats.
My building is typically quiet, the walls are pretty thick so I don't usually hear my neighbors, aside from a few squeaky steps upstairs, but hey, that's to be expected in an apartment.
I love that there is a laundry room in the building, and you need a fob just to access the building as well as a key to your apartment. This makes me feel secure.
I have not experienced any crime or delinquent behavior since I've been here. I am a woman so I usually avoid walks at night. But due to the 24/7 security cameras and anti-theft lights within the complex, I'm able to take nightly walks with my cat and feel perfectly safe.
They have a nice dog-walk area and plenty of sidewalk space for dog or pet walking. They also have a playground for kiddos if you have them.
Maintenance is also quick to fix anything you bring to their attention.
My first night here, I had some ants and small spiders in one window, told management and they sent someone within the next few days to spray. No more bugs since then!
Josh at the front desk is amazing. I am pretty sure he is the glue that holds this place together and keeps things running smoothly.
I definitely plan on renewing my lease and sticking around.
