Although it's called "the Grill" the food is more restaurant quality. There are some characteristics of a standard grill like a counter for individuals in a hurry, a grill behind the counter where the cooks are creating some of the meals, and a very friendly and professional wait staff. However, you're in for a surprise when you're presented with an order that would be worthy of a casual but upscale restaurant. I like the variety of dishes which should satisfy anyone's dining choices, but where they excel is in the specials that they have. Not just a few items that get rotated on and off the menu, but some really creative combinations that keep you wanting to come back and see what they have in store for you this time.
For groups or couples, Monday and Tuesday you can get two entrees for a discounted price which also includes soup or salad, and desert. I'm usually full after the meal, and they are glad to box up the desert so you can take it with you.
For wine lovers, they have a special on Thursdays when bottles of wine are half-price. My wine loving friend insists on going there on Thursdays.
I'd recommend that you ask your wait person if you're unsure about one of the menu choices. One evening they were offering a chicken curry and apply soup, which sounded intriguing but I was concerned that it might be too much curry for my taste. Our server assured us that the curry was just a touch for flavor and not at all overpowering. She said that a lot of people seemed to shy away from it because of the curry. We took her advice and gave it a try. It ended up being one of the best soups I've ever had. The curry was very subtle and just added to the overall flavor. I enjoyed it so much, I asked if I could have a cup of it to go instead of my desert. I can't wait for them to bring...
Read moreBackstory....We are from Washington State and flew out to visit a long time friend that is battling lots of cancer in her body. We got here last night and are leaving at 630am tomorrow.
Why you should come here...
Staff greeted us an hour before closing and seated us. We were super tired from travel and helping do things for our friend while she takes on this major battle. Anyway....
They had a 2 for $42 3 course dinner. Starts with soup or salad. (I had the amazing french onion soup) along with fresh rolls, corn bread and honey butter.
My main course was the meatloaf dinner with garlic mashed potatoes and my friend had a white sauce pasta bowl with shrimp that I just can't do justice explaining how good it was or what all was in it.
We finished that and placed an order to go for our friend back at the hospital who wasn't allowed to eat all day due to some testing and MRI tonight around 5pm. We also picked up dinner for another friend who was sleeping in the room with our friend.
When the staff found out why we were in town, where we were from and knowing that we prob would not be back this way again, they gave us to go some of the full size portions of the best cheesecake ever, German chocolate cake, some togo drinks, along with a 4 pack of their homemade pumpkin muffins for our early breakfast tomorrow. The people there were so genuinely nice to us out of town folks and the comfort food was simply the best. We were pretty exhausted from travel and helping our friend get some end of life preparations done today, that this out of the blue and over the top great service, was just what we needed to recharge a little! I wish they would pick up and move out our way!
Thank you staff and manager for making us...

After the mind-blowing fried green tomato shrimp bruschetta, we moved on to our entrées and let me tell you, The Grill did not come to play. I ordered the meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, while my guest went with the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. First of all, I’ve tried meatloaf from all over the DMV, and I’ve never had anything like this. It was so moist, so flavorful it literally melted in my mouth. The gravy? On point. The potatoes? Creamy, buttery, smooth no lumps at all and the skins were still in there, which gave it such a nice texture. I love garlic, and although I wish it had just a touch more, the flavor was still chef’s kiss. Everything on that plate worked perfectly together. I genuinely wanted to order the whole menu just to see what other magic the kitchen was hiding. My husband was just as impressed. He couldn’t stop raving about the chicken fried steak crispy, juicy, and hands down the best he’s ever had in Maryland. Every bite was better than the last. And let’s not forget the drinks because yes, I kept the mojitos coming. Courtney, our amazing server, had them flowing left and right. At one point, she ran out of mint for the mojito, but you know what? I wasn’t even mad. That’s how good the drink was. It still tasted incredible. The balance between the liquor, the fruit, the hint of acidity, and the mint (when available) was absolutely perfect. By the end of the meal, I was planning my next visit. I’ve made it my mission to come back every week and try a new dish, because if everything else is as good as what we had? Then The Grill might just be my new favorite...
