My family and I are new to Monument Ice Rinks and have been enjoying the LTS program as well as the Girls Hockey and goalie classes. At every turn we encounter staff members who reach out to help us muddle our way through all this "newness" and I want to take a moment to state how impressed I am with the rinks and staff. Their operation is so incredibly organized, efficient, helpful, supportive and overwhelmingly welcoming. Staff members notice new people (and I don't think it's only because I am constantly putting my girls' gear on incorrectly), they've learned our names and they are always smiling. Monument Ice Rinks makes hockey accessible to everyone with free classes, loaner gear and all the education and support one could ask for. Just yesterday, Alyssa (goalie and coach) came up to us to assist in getting my daughter geared up for hockey class. Andy is so informative, approachable and supportive. Ben is also so approachable and helpful with all our questions and sharpening skates with little notice. Sabrina always has gear available - it's like magic. Andrea offered me a few quick tips during my own LTS class that immediately made a huge difference. I know there are so many other people that I'm not mentioning because I haven't learned their names quite yet but I'm grateful for them too. So, in short, many thanks to all staff. Monument Ice Rinks is a GEM! Our world needs many more...
Read moreI learned to skate and play hockey here and have been playing here for over two years now. Al and Coop are great coaches and made me feel welcome from the start. I really enjoy the adult beginner hockey community at this rink(s). There are leagues for most skill levels here (all non-checking) and prices are extremely reasonable. There's even a gear loaner program for those wanting to try hockey without dropping $1k on gear. It isn't all sunshine and rainbows--sometimes on hot days the ice takes a period to freeze up or occasionally we get the game time the night before the game--but overall, I'm happy to call Monument my "home" rink and even happier to play hockey on a given day. Other stuff besides leagues that I've tried here...I really enjoy pickup hockey here, stick & pucks are ok depending on how crowded (though annoyed that you need to bring your own pucks), adult clinics/big rookies clinics are awesome for working on skating and puck handling skills, learn to skate (LTS) was good, but focused more on figure skating in my opinion, coffee club was very much like public skate except that you don't have to skate in a circle and there are coaches floating around to help you if you'd like, and private ice rental is nice, prices very depending on season. If you are thinking about trying out hockey as an adult, you have found the...
Read moreThis isn't a review of Monument Ice Rinks, this is a review of their patrons. Monument Ice Rinks gets 5 stars because they provide something Monument needs, and it's a welcoming place.
It's patrons however...
Have you ever been driving on Old Denver Highway and one or more cars comes racing up behind you like that scene out of Mad Max with flamethrowers and skulls on spears and some guy on the front of his Ford F-You playing electric guitar with a wall of speakers behind him? Just stay calm, because 99.9% of the time, that vehicle is going to pull in to Monument Ice Rinks.
Have you ever been driving on Old Denver Highway, and you see a car coming up to the exit of Monument Ice Rinks. Start hovering over the break pedal, because that guy... he's GOING FOR IT.
You say "No.. i'm going 40 and i'm only 20 feet away from the exit... he'll wait." No... no he won't.
When you have a need.... a need for speed......
