I had to call Goddard police department to get my mower out of service here.
I dropped my work mower off to have the blades sharpened last Thursday around lunch. I was told it would just take a few hours, but I told that it would be more convenient for me to just pick it up first thing Friday morning. The gentleman said that was fine and they open at 8:30 a.m.
So I arrived to pick it up Friday morning but Mark was not able to find my ticket. After about ten or fifteen minutes I was told that they had to order new blades as they would not be able to sharpen my current blades. I told them that we needed the mower to do a job and I couldn't wait for new blades to come in. I asked to just have my mower back for now.
I'm not sure if this upset Mark (the customer service staff member) as his demeanor immediately changed. He said that he could not believe that I expected to pick up my mower the same day I dropped it off. This was confusing to me as I had dropped it off, on my lunch break lunch the day before.
I was told then that if I could wait a little bit they would be able to sharpen the blades that we're currently on my mower..again I was confused. I told mark that I have to get to work I would rather just have my mower back the way it is.
After another long wait, I began to lose my patience. I told Mark that I wanted my mower back and I wanted it back now. It is one bolt on each blade totaling two bolts and I had been at the store for nearly an hour now. Mark's response was that my patience was terrible and I should be prepared to wait in any situation. I reminded him that I was the customer and his customer service skills sucked. I left the building as he was cussing and yelling at me. This is when I called Goddard Police department.
Shortly after the police arrived they brought the wrong equipment out to me...lol, not joking! Then they finally drove my mower around so I can load it into my trailer. I was told by the police department that I was not allowed in that store again.
So I went to my mow job to find out that my mower would not start.
I had it diagnosed at another mower store and found out that my starter and starter solenoid were both damaged. I had never had this issue on this mower before, but since I'm not allowed to go back to Goddard outdoor power... I bought the parts and fixed it myself by watching a YouTube video. Almost $300 in parts and I still need to have my blades sharpened!
Hope this helps someone, but beware of customer services at Goddard...
Read morePrior to bringing my mower to this shop, I did basic diagnosis such as changing spark plugs, adjusting the valve gaps, replacing the fuel filter and replacing the air cleaner. I dropped off my Toro 3000 commercial mower with one cylinder not firing all the time. The first diagnosis was bad coils. I picked up the machine and replaced the coils myself. This did not change the cylinder misfire. I brought the machine back to the shop. After another week of leaving my machine, they replaced a fuel line, installed a carburetor kit, replaced a fuel filter, replaced the spark plugs and valve cover gaskets. They called me and said it was fixed. I picked up the machine after hours and when I unloaded it, I realized the cylinder misfire condition was unchanged. I was charged over $200 for parts and labor that had accomplished nothing. I brought the machine back. They kept the machine for another 2 weeks. I constantly checked in and was told "we don't know what is wrong, we have never seen this before". After two weeks, they told me they needed to disassemble the motor for diagnosis. At this point, I realized they did not know what they were doing and were just throwing parts at it initially. I picked up the machine and brought it to another shop and it was diagnosed with a bad carburetor. I was out over $200 and over three weeks without the machine with zero result in repair with this shop.

Read moreI am new to the business here in Goddard. I was researching Hustler ZTR mowers and that eventually led me to Goddard Outdoor Power. After spending time with knowledgeable staff I decided to order a Dash XD. It took a week or so to get my item in from the factory, which happily is made nearby in Heston. I was also pleased with the sale price and that there was free pickup and delivery when my machine needs servicing. That was...
