My family ( 2 adults and 2 children) plus our small dog rented the pet friendly " Lil Elk Lodge Cabin" from "Rainier Cottages" located in Paradise community in the town of Ashford, Wa., located just 5 mile drive from the hiking trails of Mt. Rainier. I gave 5 stars because we got the buy 2 nights get the 3rd free which made this worth it even though we got this cabin thinking it would be a cabin more secluded in the woods which it kinda is... however it is located in a neighborhood- in a community which meant there were neighbors to either side and across. However, it was still pretty secluded and peaceful especially in the backyard where the hot tub and firepit were and that's where we spent the majority of our time anyhow. Beware cell phone service was spotty- almost non existent. May not get a signal in most areas. Which was fine since we went to get some peace and quiet anyhow. When we entered the cabin...the living room had a enclosed wood burning stove type fireplace and they provided 1 bundle of wood and firestarter to get you started. Also had a tv with wifi and Roku ( you do need to sign in with your own Netflix acct and remember to remove when leaving). The decore was beautiful very woodsy...nice attention to detail. This cabin had recently been remodeled. Open concept, the kitchen came equipped with a fridge with freezer ( kinda small but fit 3 days of food and that's all we needed), small stove with oven ( big enough to fit a pizza ), Had all the pots, pans, bakeware, silverware, cutlery, teakettle, dishes, glassware for dining. Even had a coffeepot. No dishwasher...everything is wash by hand but they do provide dish soap and sponge. Off the kitchen is the restroom with walkin standup shower. Door off kitchen leads to backyard with big covered porch. There was also two bbq grills in the backyard to choose from. One charcoal and one gas. And the propane tank was provided. Horseshoe game in the side yard. Firepit and plenty of seating in the backyard. Large back porch with twinkle lighting where the 4 person hot tub was. Provided a total of 10 towels for our 3 night stay. So I would recommend bringing extra. There isnt a clothes washer or dryer so all garments and towels had to be hung out to dry after utilizing the hot tub and taking showers. We spotted ALOT of deer. They came right into the yard to graze. The kids loved that! Stairs off the livingroom went up to the 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor (beware stairs were kinda steep took a bit to get accustomed.) Kids or double twin bed room located at the top of stairs with view of the backyard/woods. Door off to the left separated the master bedroom with the queen bed. The ceiling upstairs is A-frame so adults may have to duck a bit to get into bed. No biggie. Wish there was a restroom upstairs from late night potty runs for the kids instead of navigating steep stairs but we made it work. There are a couple convenience stores approx 10mins away...if ya need to grab extra marshmallows or anything else. There are several Mt.Rainier hiking trails not too far away as well. Owners provide a listing with all the sights and things to do in the area. All in all we had a nice peaceful relaxing time. And didnt break the bank. I would...
Read moreI'm going to start off with upon arrival, we were met by two deer by the fire pit. Had a little difficulty getting the door to unlock, but once we reached the owner, she was able to assist. So now the cottage: The heated bathroom floor was amazing. Especially after discovering from a cold outside. The owners did a really good job of providing everything you may need minus a few items, which I'll mention later. The kitchen was well stocked for all needs, including ice trays. Also, a basket full of hot drinks and sugar/creamer. The bed was comfortable, and with the shades, it was dark when you wanted it to be in case you want a mid-day nap. The neighborhood is quiet with very little noise. The hot tub was nice, and we did our best to skim it with the net as we used it to keep debris out. Being kinda rainy, it felt good while in the tub. The fireplace was amazing, and they are not kidding when it comes to heating the place up. They also provide plenty of electrical plug ins for electronics. Now for a few suggestions: A hair dryer would be nice along with some cloths. The towels are nice but needed a hand towel to use as a wash cloth. I wish the grill had a cover over it cause I would have liked to have used it, but it was raining too much. The Hot Tub: Having the fence open to the front of the house was disturbing and felt very unnerving. All around, a great cottage for a great price. We will return to visit again! The Tip: It's all the cash I had, and I...
Read moreI absolutely love these cabins, but they refuse to let us stay after my wife left a bad review. I have stayed at least 4 different cabins. Mountain peek was our most stayed. It's an absolutely beautiful area and a cozy cabin, especially in the winter. I have stayed with Rainer cottages over 8 times throughout the years. The home website is cozy and super user friendly. But when you go to make a reservation it takes you to another website. This website can be difficult and glitchy, when we tried using the 2 for 1 special. I must not of clicked the right button on the website. Me and my family were staying in the mountain peek cabin for what we thought was 3 nights. We were contacted and told it was only 2 nights. We packed up and left with some complaints. My wife left a review describing this experience which she didn't mention the cabins once just the experience with the reservation and being told to pack up and leave. I loved the stay so much for me and my family which is why I stayed so many times. Now they simply refuse any business from us do to the bad review...
