Update: I’ve been here for about two months now and it’s slightly disappointing because I really like my apartment. The noise from my upstairs neighbors and their children is so bad that I can’t even relax and simply watch tv throughout the day. The only time it’s quiet is when the upstairs neighbors aren’t home, or when they go to sleep. I can tell when they make it home based on the noise and chaos they exhibit. I’ve complained and sent numerous emails and nothing has changed. Most times, I don’t even receive a response from the office. They just send a reminder saying quiet hours are between 10 pm-7 am. I’m guessing they are basically stating that you can be as loud and rambunctious as you want as long as it’s before those hours.
I’m at the point where I’m documenting and taking note of the constant noise. I’m probably going to seek legal advice to see what my rights are as a tenant because who wants to deal with this for an entire year.
Living at The Ellery: My First Month Review
I’ve been living at The Ellery for just under a month, and so far, the worst part has been my upstairs neighbors from…”the land of chaos.” But before we get into that saga, let’s talk about the good stuff.
Pros: • Staff: The office staff is friendly, approachable • Maintenance: They’re quick, they’re efficient. • Apartments: Nice and spacious. I’m in a 2BR/2BA at 1,295 sq ft, and even downsizing from a house, it fits most of our belongings comfortably. • Amenities: Love the parcel locker system and the gym. Huge plus. • Safety: I feel safe even walking outside late at night—and that’s saying something.
Cons: • My Upstairs Neighbors. • My Upstairs Neighbors. • …Did I mention my upstairs neighbors? • Parking. I live on the 2nd floor. Above me? A third-floor family with two kids who seem to have been enrolled in a WWE match! Week one, I politely went upstairs and mentioned the stomping and jumping. They acted surprised and said they’d try to keep it down.
They didn’t. In fact, it’s like they took it as a challenge and the noise has gotten worse. From sunrise to bedtime, it’s a non-stop soundtrack of stomps, jumps, and sprints. The stomping, jumping, and running isn’t just “kid noise”—it’s constant, excessive, and completely disrespectful to the fact that other people live here too. I’ve got a 3-year-old myself, but I make sure she respects the fact we share walls (and ceilings) with other people. She prefers books, iPad time, or cartoons—her “jumping” is on the couch, so you don’t hear a thing downstairs.
I even contacted management, but either nothing was said or they ignored it—because every morning, without fail, I’m woken up by what sounds like a full-on WWE match directly overhead. I’ll never understand why a family of four would lease a third floor apartment and then wreak havoc on the downstairs neighbor. With 12 more months left on my lease, I’m crossing my fingers they move out before I do.
Now, about the parking: There are spaces, but if you get home after 6 PM, be prepared to park far from your unit—especially if you live in the middle of the complex like I do. You’ll almost definitely end up in the back lot.
If anything changes, I’ll update this review—but for now, The Ellery is a great place with great staff… as long as you don’t live under neighbors who are inconsiderate and as disrespectful as mine. Consider getting a third floor apartment to prevent stress and a headache, unless you have a WWE...
Read moreWe move in late December 2023 and received a tour with Zeth. At the time of the tour everything appeared to be going smoothly, staff and maintenance seemed to be very kind. Currently the only positive things I can think of is how kind staff in the front office are and how spacious our yard and 2B 2R apartment is.
Noise Concerns- Going on to month 5 and I can say that moving to The Ellery has been a poor decision and we have considered breaking our lease! I understand that we live in an apartment complex and noice is inevitable however there is no privacy whatsoever! I can hear my upstairs neighbor, entire phone conversation! There is no reason why I should be aware of my neighbors travel plans, travel itinerary, or work complaints. (I was in bed with knowledge of my neighbors departure and arrival date and time!)
Rushed Construction- There is clear evidence of rushed construction EVERYWHERE! Drainage seems to be something that was not considered very well when The Ellery was designed as huge puddles can be found all around the complex, including our back yard. Our flooring has gaps between tiles. Appliances are not very functional, our dishwasher does not dry properly, stove will randomly turn off, master bedroom has poor air ventilation, cabinet doors do not close correctly, refrigerator does not filter water, I could go on and on but I’m sure you get the picture!
Parking Concerns- Parking is a very common issues among many apartment complex’s however it is really really bad here! If you arrive after 4-5pm please expect to park in the back or plan to pay $150 for garage parking since most covered parking is unavailable. Or you could buy a fake disable tag like everyone else, literally!
Keyless Entry- Although I appreciate the efforts to make technological advancement, there should be a better approach or application to the keyless entry. Most recently we had to call maintenance at 12 or 1am because the app completely denied us access on 2 different devices.
Marijuana- Management has sent at least two or three notices reminding tenants smoking marijuana is prohibited, so this should tell you how common it may be..
If you move to The Ellery please expect parking difficulties, lack of privacy, and a smelly apartment that smells like marijuana. I encourage you to consider the reviews before making your...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I moved to Texas from out of state about a year ago, and have lived here since moving. We have mostly great things to say about living here:
Although we moved into a new unit upon arrival, our unit was very clean and well put together. The unit is very nice, and unlike many complex websites, the pictures online for The Ellery do a great job representing the high quality of the space.
As we were trying to lease from out of state, the leasing office was very helpful, responsive, and happy to answer questions. We haven't put in many maintenance requests (which is a good thing), and the ones we did fill out were serviced promptly.
Overall, the community is good. We haven't had any human noise complaints (see cons below), people have been nothing but pleasant in our interactions with the community. No MAJOR cons, but some things of note:
Dogs barking in the outdoor areas have been a nuisance. Owners let them out and they just bark and bark at nothing, even late at night. The leasing office has done a good job trying to corral this issue, and it has gotten better. Also just part of what you sign up for when living at an apartment.
Some weed smokers in the complex that don't keep it a secret, so the outdoor areas and stairways can smell sometimes, but it has never leaked into our unit specifically, which is a major plus. The leasing office does what they can to keep it under control, but there isn't much they can do. At the very least, they are aware and responsive to the issue.
Parking can get a little crowded - we do not pay for reserved parking spots. Given where we live in the complex, we never have too far of a walk. But I know other buildings are less convenient than ours is. In the current apartment landscape where many google reviews for other complexes are filled with gross pictures of the units, complaints about the leasing/maintenance staff, and dragging their community through the mud, I can attest The Ellery is better than those places. Overall, we are very happy here and would like to re-sign to stay for...
