This two star review would have been much higher initially, but the ball was dropped so often after our purchase was messed up that we will absolutely think twice before purchasing at Talsma's again.
In August 2020, we purchased a secitonal from Talsmas with a very specific set of thow pillows to match our family room decor. Due to Covid it took almost four months to receive our sectional which is 100% understnadable as manufacturing was hit hard by the pandemic. However, when we received the sectional it was missing one specific color of throw pillows in the set that we had ordered and so we contacted Talsmas to have the situation rectified. We were advised (after not being helped intiially because our salesman was not in at the time of the call) that they would order the pillows and have them to us shortly.
That was January, 2021.
It is now the end of June 2021 and we still do not have the throw pillows. After making the call in January to have the mistake rectified, we waited until March and called back only to find out that WHOOPSIE nobody had put in the request to have the correct pillows sent to us. Okay mistakes happen so we asked for the order to please be put in. And waited. And waited. I would think that by this time Talsmas might want to, I don't know, follow up to make sure we are made aware of the order status but maybe that's just me.
Fast forward to today and we just called again (this is now the fourth call) to ask where our pillows are. Allegedly they have shipped... but 10 months after our intial purchase the hassle of having to call multiple times, having the order not even placed after our first call, and leigitmately having an entire main floor renovation finished in the time that we have been waiting for these freaking pillows has us wondering if they will ever show up; hence the use of the term "allegedly".
We are in the market now for an entire new set for our living room, plus an ottoman and some throw pillows to match/ I can tell you where we for sure are NOT going for the purchase...
Read moreI was recommended Talsma Furniture by one of my good friends and I am not disappointed in one way, shape or form. This pandemic has hit the furniture industry hard. The cost of lumber has nearly doubled and in some instances, tripled during this pandemic. I know this because I am a contractor who has also been hit with the same 100-200% material cost increases. The worst part is that these high costs inhibit furniture makers and furniture suppliers in Michigan and throughout the entire country from being able to make or supply furniture without losing money. If you run a business and it doesn't make money or it can't deliver on it's contracts or promises, that business will no longer exist.
Anna, the person that happily greeted me when I arrived at their East Paris location, was completely transparent about the shortage they are experiencing throughout the furniture industry. I looked up the other popular furniture outlets in West Michigan and they are riddled with 1 star reviews with most of those negative reviews stating something like, "I paid for my furniture 6 months ago and haven't received it."
Anna was able to walk me through what they had available in town and within two days from my initial visit, I had 90% of what I ordered delivered to my home. All of my furniture was delivered on time and the communication was great throughout the entire process. I would recommend Talsma to anyone looking for quality and affordable furniture that is ACTUALLY available.
TL:DR Great experience, great value, great and available furniture, great people, timely delivery and great follow-up. I will post some pictures of what I bought if anyone...
Read moreI wanted to voice my frustration on this review about my experience with talsmas. Honestly over all I had a good experience. Sales person was professional. Furniture was good with exception of 1 recliner. Recliner broke 6 months in. No problem manufacturer cover in first yr. 6 months later same thing breaks. I have to make claim against the coverage plan sold to me by talsmas. 2 weeks later same thing in same spot of same chair. Claim denied by montage the company that plan is thru.
Now here's my issue. I came and spent 13.5k on furniture. Was sold a Protection plan that covered everything for 5 yrs. However the small print says if anything breaks for a second time it's not covered. Totally my responsibility to read contract but who reads the small print. I was told by salesperson if anything broke or was damaged in 5 yrs covered. Well that's not the case.
The other kicker is I had bad experience with a diffrent chair and isurance company which brought me to talsmas. I'm a big dude 6'7 320 lbs. I explained before I cut the check I needed a quality chair and replacement plan. I was assured I had both. Not the case.
Talsmas is waving a fee and sending a tech out to fix the mechanism on chair because the part itself is still under warranty from last repair. Which is awesome on thier end to make me happy . But I was told that because I'm a large man it's considered general wear and tear.
So over all id buy from Talsmas again but I'm telling you dont buy the...
