GUESS WHAT? THE LINK PROVIDED FOR ME TO CONTACT THEM SAYS "OOPS! LOOKS LIKE YOUR FISH GOT OFF THE HOOK." "SORRY THE PAGE YOU WERE LOOKING FOR COULD NOT BE FOUND." I can't make this stuff up, seriously.
Wow, has this place gone backwards, downhill, not worth a dime of my time nor my money. We used to eat there 2-3 times a year. Always pretty darned good on all counts. Good food, good service, good experiences.
First time there this year, maybe 6-7 months since our last visit.
More than 30 minutes past our reservation time before we were seated. Party of 6, busy night, so it is not a surprise. Saturday night after Valentine's Day.
A special on the steak (7 oz. filet mignon), and lobster for Valentine's Day. In the end the special price was no different than the regular menu price. Can't argue or complain that we didn't catch that. That is on us.
Steak (filet mignon): tough, chewy, nice flavor though. Lobster? A total fail. Black, charcoal, burnt. No butter nor anything else to dip the meat into when we finally were able to get it off the shell. With all the burnt meat, hard to distinguish the meat from the shell. Tough and chewy as well, not very good. Probably should have declined it when it was served. Waiting for our server to return was a lesson in patience as she was MIA for a while.
Did not finish eating the lobster it was so bad and when it was mentioned to the server how black and burnt it was, all she could say was she would notify the cook. What? Really? How about apologizing, offering a replacement, maybe a credit on the bill? We were too stunned by her response to even consider asking for the manager or offering any reply of our own.
I still tipped well as there were 6 of us and the service wasn't bottom shelf. Not close to top shelf but not at the bottom either. I try to be fair in my reviews, always. I try to be fair with my tip and tend to tip well above average, sometimes up to 50% depending on the service. Just a hair under 30% which was probably too much but the server was not rude nor inattentive despite being MIA at times. Had her reply to the lobster comment been more appropriate the tip may have been better.
A note about the other reviews that I read here. Someone mentioned feeling 'under dressed', however I would say more than 50% of the crowd that night was under dressed. Seems to be the norm these days. This is not the same fine dining that we have experienced previously. Based on what I have read there are some clearly apparent similarities to the negative reviews.
One regret of a few that I have is not taking a picture of the lobster to post with this review. Of course, I didn't go to dinner with any thoughts of posting a review.
One last note. I see that the 'owner' or whomever is making the comments in reply to these reviews provides a 'canned' answer. Sad. This is part of the problem. There seems to be a lack of interest or genuine, personal engagement in providing a first-class guest/dining experience or addressing the issues that are highlighted here. What's up Bonefish, not meeting what you strive to offer so you just give up or post a few automated nice words while your efforts to improve clearly aren't being achieved? Makes me question how hard you are trying. Words are cheap.
I did see at least one person stated NO ONE HAS FOLLOWED UP WITH HER AFTER SHE REACHED OUT PER THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE CANNED RESPONSE. Not surprised at all. Kind of goes hand in hand with "I'll let the cook know".........
Sorry Bonefish, won't be back. Not worth the $150.00 plus that we spent for...
Read moreI was so excited to take my family to this location. I have eaten at many Bonefish grills over the years, and until today have never had an issue. To start, the hostess walked me, my wife and two children past plenty of open tables and sat us at the table right by the restroom. I said no and requested she place us somewhere else. If it were the only table I could understand, but there were plenty available. Once I objected I had my pick of tables. Hostess was not overly impressed but professionally moved us to another location. Then it goes down hill from there. The waitress was not rude, but just vacant. The restaurant was not busy. It was not empty, but back to the large amount of open tables. It took a while to be served, and then in between interactions it would be a while before you would see her again. Actually let me rephrase. Before she would look in our general direction to see we were waiting on her. Tables right next to us were getting first class service and we were third class citizens. My daughterâs Sprite tasted like water. I eventually informed the waitress who said she would look into it. It took her over 20 minutes before I had to remind her she was supposed to be replacing the sprite. It was fair that the sprite was removed from service as it was out, but for that length of time to pass and for me to remind her she was helping us was insane. She placed my sonâs meal onto the table without any acknowledgement or interaction. Just popped it on the table and looked away and walked off. Ridiculous. Then, to top of the experience, after I asked for the check, she literally looked at me and asked together or separate. My son is 12 and Daughter 14. How are they likely to be splitting a $150 bill with their parents? Food was not awful. Experience was not good. Would it have been better had I stuck with the original table by the toilet. Probably, but then why should that affect how they treat people? Service industry needs to work on serving all people. We did ask to move but it was not done rudely. While this will not have put me off going to a Bonefish in future, I can safely say it will never...
Read moreWell we arrived a three minutes before happy hour, so our server had us wait to order, but she did give us a menu to look over, after I asked. When it was after three o'clock, even then, we actually had to ask to give our drink order. Even though there were only eight people at the bar. It was Saturday afternoon, and an email was put out a few days before that there would be half off apps on Saturday at Bonefish Grill. Well apparently the staff was not aware or not told. The bartenders and bar backs were totally unprepared.... even though they seemed to have plenty of staff, although there was one server focused on a couple who were apparently were her regulars. Every time we wanted to order another drink, we had to ask... except for our last, when a new guy showed up, but then we just needed our tab. The staff is not trained to scan the bar. Properly trained staff would ask if you wanted another drink as soon they seen a glass that was less than a third full. Unless you are drinking out of a can, you should never have to tell a bartender that you need another. We did order the Bang Bang shrimp, which has always been consistently good for years. We also ordered the pot stickers..... okay, but not notable. And even then, we were not asked if we wanted to order any food, we had to ask if we could place an order. I couldn't believe that! Sorry that we customers are an inconvenience. I know that good help is still hard to find, but still, the Michigan work ethic is phenomenal, and a probably trained staff will enjoy coming to work and their customers will look forward to regularly frequenting the establishment. If there's a next time, I think we'll try the...
