I regularly visit this Stater Bros. and am usually pleased with the experience, but I suppose if you are on public assistance, you are looked down upon and belittled by their employees and customers. Today my experience not only was horrible, but somewhat traumatizing to say the least. We pay out of pocket for the vast majority of our groceries, but I am a stay-at-home mom and have temporarily stopped working until my child is able to walk. I use WIC vouchers from time to time in order to feed my child, and even so, it's only when needed. I primarily breastfeed her but we need the formula to mix and with her rice cereal which is the only thing she'll eat right now. That being said, the employee scanning my groceries was pretty rude as soon as I mentioned my groceries were from WIC. I usually let whoever is scanning know right away that I'm using vouchers so as not to trouble them in the transaction later. I got an eyeroll right away and a less than enthusiastic "Where are your vouchers?" and from there, I knew the next 5 minutes were going to be awesome (sarcasm). The employee avoided eye contact with me the entire transaction and looked absolutely miserable. Then an old white woman that was behind me muttered something along the lines to the employee like, "That's just sad. All that formula." And the employee said, "I know, it's so expensive though." They were both talking about me as if I wasn't there. As if I was lesser than. You need to put your employees in some sensitivity courses, but for God's sake, they just need some common human decency. I've NEVER been so humiliated and furious. Do you all think people WANT to be on public assistance? If you want to cater to a higher class of people don't offer WIC deals...
Read moreI have to admit I'm a little surprised reading some of the other reviews. I found the store to be almost immaculate, very well stocked, and an excellent choice of produce and meat/seafood like many or most others here. However, I have to disagree with the reviews about customer service. During my last visit, I found the store quite busy and although every checkout wasn't open, there was sufficient to handle the crowds. I mean if they bring EVERYONE up to open all the counters who will work the rest of the store? People need to understand they can't just work 80 people on one shift...the store must meet it's customer service needs but still maintain a reasonable payroll expense or they'd need to increase prices to offset the labor. That being said, I was greeted, employees were talking to each other but it didn't bother me, and notably many employees offered to help me in some form: to out my groceries on the belt, to carry out my groceries, and even to help load my groceries as they collected carts...DURING A HEAVY DOWNPOUR OF RAIN! I'm sure I'll have a bad encounter someday but just as quick as we all are to jump on social media and rant about a bad experience or service as soon as it happens, make sure to do the same when you receive great service. Thank you Stater Bros. for being my hometown...
Read moreOn May 13, 2024. My brother bought some Ceviche from the meat department. May 14, 2024. Unopened I took it to eat for lunch. Myself and my co worker ate the ceviche half ways through it we found what appeared to be a bloody bandage. Fast forward to today. Today is May 29,2024 and I have not been contacted by Stater Brothers to let me know if I have been infected with a bloodborne pathogen. In fact I've contacted them several times and they keep telling me that the lab results haven't came in. What should myself and my coworker do? Do we need to get blood work done? Stater brothers has not attempted to sort this mater out with me at all. I told them - what about everyone else who purchased the ceviche that day? They must have eaten the same contaminated ceviche I did. No response. If anyone purchased the Mengo Ceviche on May 13, 2024 you may have purchased contaminated ceviche. I don't know because Staters has not told me, I feel Staters has found my health and my co workers health to be of no concern. Here is a photo of the bandage I found in the Mengo Ceviche. The blood stain was so gross to look at I folded it over to take this photo, but you can still see the blood stain through it if you look close. I wish Stater brothers cared about it's customers...
