My wife and I were looking for a place for her sister to move to. We just dropped in with no warning at all. I always feel this is the best way to see how things are REALLY run. Well, the minute we walked in the front door we were very impressed with the cleanliness and how bright everything looked. It was almost like walking into a very nice hotel. We were greeted by 4 of the residents that were just sitting around talking. They seemed to us to be very happy, as they welcomed us to their home. Since we had not made an appointment to see this facility we were afraid we would not get to see how the rooms were or how small/large they are. One of the residents asked if we wanted to talk to a staff member. Before I could answer, a woman came up to us and again, we were welcomed to Brookdale Village. After talking to her for just a few minutes we could tell she worked there because she loved her job. We explained what we were there for and before I could say another word she asked if we would like to tour this facility. We got to see everything we came to see. We were impressed with all of the things they offered. We found the one thing we really liked. It was one of their cottages. We went right in the office and put our deposit down to insure it was ours (our sisters) . It wasn’t just the cottage, it was everything. We had seen many of the staff members as they were doing their jobs and every one of them stopped what they were doing and addressed us with a smile and great attitude. It was obvious to us that with this kind of surroundings (all being positive) this was the place for our loved one. It showed in the people that live there and ALL the staff members as well. If you are looking for a place that you can trust to take care of your loved ones, Brookdale Village, Grants Pass should be one of the first places you look. It may save you lots of time looking. My mom has been a resident at Spring Meadow (Independent Living) Cascades of Grants Pass for 2 years now. She absolutely LOVES it there. The staff is kind and attentive. If they have a concern, they don't hesitate to reach out to me. We feel very lucky to have found her the perfect apartment overlooking a beautiful lawn and gurgling fountain. This community is the perfect size for our mom. She loves the interaction with other residents, and the opportunity to go out for the occasional excursion in the "fun bus". They have a newer activity director who knows the residents by name and has them busy with all sorts of different activities throughout the week. If mom gets bored there it is her own fault - there is so much to do! The Executive Director holds an interactive meeting each week that includes him reading to them and opening the floor for discussion! Of course my mom always has an opinion to share! She thinks the food is amazing and the servers are absolutely the best ever in her book! The chef holds meetings with the residents as well to hear what they have liked and what they haven't liked, or what they might like to try adding to the menu. They always have lots of choices at meal time. Let's face it, we all want this type of a positive experience for our parent. The staff there is an extension of the family. They want what's best for mom and have helped me through a couple of matters that I had questions about.
