EDIT: I was amazed at the amount of unsellable product for sale during my most recent visit. Last time I overlooked the wilted, rotting produce as I was just glad to have found a local grocer. But it wasn't just a one-off. I came back today to find a bin of swiss chard, completely wilted, fish and beef cuts packaged several days ago and beginning to discolor, yogurts and other dairy products with sell by dates passed 10 days ago. "Fresh Baked Bread" with sell-by dates instead of baked dates. Who knows how long it's kept on the shelf.
All this during just a standard shopping trip, picking up products I wanted to buy. I can't imagine what else is wilting, rotting, molding, off temp, and going stale. Look. I get it. It's small, local, and times are tough. But this is a food establishment and it's a matter of public health. The majority of customers are senior citizens who may be more likely to take a hit from an unsafe food product they consumed without checking the label. Unfortunate. I want to come back and shop here because the prices and selection are decent, but I can't risk my health and I'm not even 30.
ORIGINAL: Clearly for locals, by locals! Everything was competitively priced with Big Y and Stop N Shop in the area. I left the store only $20 lighter and with a big bag of fresh produce and cheeses. Seeing a big tank of lobsters is refreshing after a 5 year stint in the Midwest. Greatful to be back in New England and looking forward to shopping...
Read moreI have a few problems lately with Fosters. When is that if I show up 5 minutes before they close to grab say a box of litter like I did recently and they're already closed and locked up that's a little annoying when they're only open till 7:00 p.m. is it that hard to actually just stay open till 7:00? Especially when people that work want to make it there? Another thing is that almost all the employees that work there are nice but the ladies that work at the counter ringing people out almost all except for say one or two or just rude and then give you this look like you're dumb and it's just not a pleasant experience even though they say have a nice day and a better tomorrow. On top of that the new point system they have ended up robbing me of a bunch of points. Half of their registers don't work with the points right now too and they acted annoyed when I wanted to switch registers to get the double points on seafood I was purchasing. Anyway, to sum it up they're kinda rude and need to work on that. Overall though they deserve four stars but I'm keeping it at 2 until I see...
Read moreThe bottle and can redemption only accepts items the store itself sells sadly plus It's super expensive to shop here, they aren't open on Sunday's, the produce only last a few days at your house before it goes bad and ALWAYS CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE since they sold me expired meat. Luckily they were fined when the health department went in there and checked all the dates on food and saw that some of it was being sold past the sell by dates. Still check all the dates on everything you buy here still because i believe they don't care to thoroughly check all their products unfortunately. I feel the quality of the food should definitely be way better for the price they sell everything for ..... Smh .... This is a last resort type of store for me now honestly even though it's the closest in distance...
