Main Street Bar & Grille — Restaurant in Greenfield

My wife and I were out on a day trip antiquing on this gorgeous day. One the shops we were browsing, I had inquire of a local place for lunch. Main St. Bar and Grill was suggested as it was up the street. We drove down to an unimpressive building front with on street parking. Bring quarters! We stepped inside and the interior was impressive! Open and airy, small horseshoe bar with electrical outlets at each stool with coat hooks. High tables as well as normal height tables. Thick wood slab table tops with comfortable chairs. Awesome lighting with industrial theme. Extremely inviting, cozy and warm. We were greated by a hostess who was warm, friendly, and delightful. We sat at a high table and Marlayna was our server. Great personality and offered suggestions to our inquiries. This seemed to be a quiet day as not many were here at the 2pm hour. First, one discovers the food is all made fresh to order. So if you are in a hurry don't be. Even the drinks of red wine was delicious and the berry margarita was served with fresh blueberries and raspberries. The beer batter onion rings and stuffed mushrooms came to the table first, hot and delicious they were. My wife had the house salad with Buffalo chicken and I had the bacon burger with blue cheese. The entrees were cooked to perfection! We ended the meal with fresh canolis. Throughout the meal Marlayna was attentive to our desires and needs. The ability to start conversations with other patrons brought laughter and enjoyment to the luncheon. Amy was the bar keep who knows how to pour your favorite beverage and step up the pleasure of being there. The cooking staff creates delightful dishes and the presentations of the dishes were exquisite. The establishment is a diamond, well worth the 5 stars if not more. Went back for the first time in 3 years.

My previous experiences were that the food was mediocre for the price, but the service was rather awful; our server rushed us to order, and then rarely came to our table at all. I had also been and additional two times back then and received grossly overdone burgers both times when asking for medium rare.

My experience this time was better but still very middling overall. The server was courteous though generally inattentive. This was a late afternoon lunch, so the restaurant was reasonably empty, which made the infrequent visits to our table seem even more unusual. Wait time for the food was also longer than expected considering the low number of customers present.

The food itself still ranged from fine to subpar. The onion rings we ordered for the table were a good start, with a light breading that was cooked well, but each of the main dishes ordered by the table had some notable issues. My house salad with balsamic vinaigrette was good, other than the grilled chicken, which was somewhat dry due to slight overcooking, and rather under-seasoned. The steak tips one of my companions ordered was definitely on the undercooked side of medium-rare, and was overly smothered in the gorgonzola butter. With how intense a flavor gorgonzola has, it was unsurprising that it could be offensively overpowering when completely coating the steak, so it comes of as poor attention to detail. The burger that my other companion ordered seemed like a reasonable quality burger and, to my surprise based on previous experience, was cooked to a reasonable medium/medium-rare.

Unfortunately, I had a really negative experience here tonight. Previously, I have had positive experiences. The host was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. We were seated outside and no one acknowledged us for 25 minutes. The waitress servicing outside was going to other tables but did not attend to us at all. My friend went inside and asked if we could be serviced and after that a man ended up coming out who seemed like he was more of a bar back or bus boy. He took our order which included both drinks and dinner at that point. Our food was delivered by him and others (the food was good) and the next and only interaction with our waitress was her putting the check down on the table without saying anything. The man ended up asking if we needed boxes and that was our only exchange outside of him taking our order. Very poor service and blatantly ignored. Upon leaving I handed a tip to the man for acknowledging us. We unfortunately did not tip on the bill as we received essentially no service. I understand places are short staffed but this felt...
