I've been a member here for over a year and for the most part i really love coming because normally everyone is very nice Mr.Rick the General Manager is a really great guy and always makes sure I'm well taken care of, Misty and another young man always give warm greetings, recently i've began to start taking my gym membership more serious so i have began to come more often in the mornings i often bring my mother and we love love love!!! to get a little cardio in playing racket ball and we have meet some pretty awesome people in the process. However this is the second time Iv'e come in at a later time in the afternoon and have received a level of unprofessional service i choose not to ignore this time, both times a young man named MALIK was working the front desk. The first time i stood there for 5 min before being acknowledged to receive the racket ball equipment and have my badge scanned due to the fact that Malik was having a whole side conversation with some guy about his brother or something to that nature i stood patiently and watched as they moved from one side of the desk to the other.Tonight upon arriving MALIK was there again with the scanners placed behind the desk He was on the phone so i had to wait yet again just to have my badge scanned only this time as I'm signing my guest's information in on the guest pad Malik interrupted me saying WHAT IT THAT FOR? so i told him to sign my mom in as a guest, he stops me from doing this and tells me i can complete it after i follow a young man named CJ. I asked him is this was something new because we come here often MALIK responded no you just have to go with him first so we followed cj over to the sign up area , you know that place you go when your new to the gym to sign up as if your not a member?... I asked CJ is this something new we come here all the time the young man couldn't explain to me why we where over there and just responded that he didn't know but he was going to just scan my badge to see if i could bring a guest. I asked if the manager was there and he told me that MALIK is the active manager. I couldn't help but notice as OTHER MEMBERS used their badge to sign in with THEIR GUEST and was not being given the same treatment I watched as my Mother stood by waiting, not only was this EMBARRASSING but it was also VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! Cj ended up walking us back over to the front desk and there stood Malik I asked him is it alright if i could finish signing her in as a Guest and his response to me was FOR NOW! So yet again i asked what was the meaning of this we come here all the time this young man began to BABBLE speaking so unclear i couldn't make out what he was saying MALIK was not able to even explain the reasons behind his own actions, So i began to speak and SUDDENLY MALIK AGGRESSIVELY INTERRUPTED me before i could finish my sentence, MALIK SAID WE CAN TALK ABOUT THAT LATER ON WHEN YOU COME BACK IF THATS ALRIGHT. WOW!!!!... one thing is for sure these two HAD NO CLUE WHAT THEY WHERE DOING AND VERY POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS MOST OF THEIR RESPONSES WHERE HUH &UMM... IT RUINED MY WHOLE WORKOUT WHAT A POOR REPRESENTATION OF THE GYM... BEING YOUNG IS NO EXCUSE TO HAVE SUCH POOR PEOPLE SKILLS AND LACK OF CHARACTER MAYBE MALIK AND CJ SHOULD HAVE A SIMPLE TASK SUCH AS CLEANING UP THE GYM RATHER THAN BEING ONE OF THE FIRST FACES THE PUBLIC SEE'S WHEN MEMBERS AND GUEST ENTER THE ESTABLISHMENT ONLY TO HAVE AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE AND WORKOUT...BEFORE GOING TO THE GYM TODAY I READ A FEW BAD REVIEWS AND I THOUGHT WHAT ARE THESE GUYS TALKING ABOUT I ALWAYS HAVE A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE WELL NOW I FULLY UNDERSTAND, WHAT A VERY...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO FITNESS CONNECTION! They have been the biggest pain in my ass for the past year.
I joined Fitness Connection last year so that I could work out and get in better shape. A couple of months after joining, I decided that I had the money to work with a personal trainer for a little while - just a couple of months - and then use that training that I had to work by myself after when I got back from Fort Leonard Wood that summer. When I got back, I tried to cancel my personal training and was told multiple times by the staff there that I was not allowed to cancel it because I was under a year long contract. I explained to them that I was financially unable to do so because I recently acquired a new car due to old one breaking down beyond a reasonable point of repair. They refused to let me out of the contract, so I lived on rice and beans for a few months while trying to figure out what to do. Finally, my debit card number was stolen, so when I got a new one, I decided not to give Fitness Connection the new number. I quit going there for months and kept getting call after call pestering me to pay for a service that I wasn't even using. Finally, they told me that they would take further collective action if I did not pay, so I spoke with the staff once again and the person at the front desk gave me a number to call and a piece of paper with instructions on how to cancel my membership. I called the number and paid off the membership fee that had accumulated and then followed the steps online to cancel my membership - like I was originally told I could not do. I received an email the same day saying that I could not cancel my membership until I paid the $480 I owed on the personal training that I had not received. I called and spoke with a representative, who would not, or could not do anything about the situation. So in short, because I was not aware of the contract that I was getting myself into, now I have to pull out money that doesn't exist to pay for something that I have not gotten, and now have no interest in getting. I would love for someone to explain to me why a company needs a contract for people to work out. It's not like buying a car or a house where you physically have something that you need to pay off because it doesn't fully belong to you yet. Its WORKING OUT! EXERCISE! And why should I have to pay hundreds of dollars for a service that I don't use now and haven't for months?! The only good reason that I can think of is that Fitness Connection is not a gym that actually cares about its members. Members there are just customers - another way to make money. Fitness Connection is so money hungry and greedy that they are trying to squeeze every last penny out of someone who doesn't have any pennies to spare. I have rent to pay, car insurance, phone bill, college loans, health, vision, dental insurance - not to mention food, water, gas, clothes, shoes - I work a maintenance job, so I'm constantly having to buy new boots or pants when the others get worn out. Every time I have drill with the National Guard, I have to drive hundreds of miles to get to the armory. That equates to quite a bit of money every month. But Fitness connection just sees me as a source of money - not a person. I am a number to them. Businesses like this should not be in operation. They are filthy and do not care one bit about the people who go there just to better their own health. Fitness connection has been one of the most financially taxing and stressful parts of my life for the past year. If you know what is good for you, STAY AWAY from this sloppy, money...
Read moreI have nothing but excellent things to say about this gym. First of all, this is the only gym I have ever signed up at in my whole 23 years. When I called they asked me to come in the next day to speak to someone. When I went in I got to meet Trey (definitely the best manager they have there by the way!) and he gave me a tour of the whole gym and the kids club. The gym seemed so huge to me I would have gotten lost if Trey wasnât there lol. It wasnât long before I was all signed up and out the door. Ever since I started going Im always greeted by smiling faces as soon as I come in the door. I love the fact that all classes are included and you donât have to pay extra for them like at other gyms. I was scared to do any of the classes because I thought I would feel judged or maybe the people there would be more advanced than me. But I took all that back as soon as I tried a few classes. I love all of the energy from the instructors and their MOTIVATION during the class. I love that they involve God honestly. The classes are as also as challenging as you want them to be and instructors are always there trying to push you to go a little stronger. I LOVE IT. The hours for the kids club are definitely something I can easily fit in my daily schedule. Staff at the kids club are super nice and are always trying to make sure they take the best care of your children. They gym is PACKED with sooo many different kinds of equipment. I have definitely gotten some great workouts in thanks to all the equipment they have available. I could really go on and on but I think the review is long enough and I have gotten my point across that I love this gym and definitely recommend it to anyone thatâs looking for one.
EDIT EDIT EDIT REALLY QUICK**
Because i completely forgot to mention that they also have a womenâs only workout room where I go in all the time just because I really hate working out in front of other people. I get very self conscious still. Itâs small but it has everything I need to get a good work out. I only pay a few bucks a month for ALL of it. The gym, the kids club, the classes, the personal space. It really canât get better...
