Location, location, location! I lived here for 5 years with young kids and I found it to be a great temporary home. While "your mileage may vary", the good points are: Outstanding location: Close to "The Ave" in downtown Greenwich with high-end shopping and restaurants, Portchester and big box stores (eg, Costco) and only 14 minute drive to White Plains Airport with direct connections to DC, Charlotte, Chicago, Florida, etc. Hospitals and schools in Greenwich are great. The Town of Greenwich also has its own private beach (Tod's Point), which you can gain access to as a resident of Greenwich. If you have younger kids, they'll love the amenities of Greenwich Oaks (clubhouse, tennis court, pool) and there are generally other kids in the complex to play with. G.O. is also a 5 min walk to public recreation fields and indoor sports facilities for kids. Town football and softball teams for kids are active nearby. The complex is also easy walking distance to decent pizza, deli, dry cleaner, ice cream and wine stores (and soon to be a big supermarket). If you have younger kids, they can walk to Glenville Elementary. The bus stop for middle and high school is at the entrance of GO. Greenwich is a lovely, affluent town. If the word "affluent" turns you off and you don't want to be in a town that features (very) wealthy, successful people, you can always move to Stamford and rent there for less and revel in "diversity", poor schools, and higher crime. Greenwich Metro North train station is 14 min drive and has easy access to NYC. I-95 closeby too. The downsides are that rent will go up every year (as it will in any other complex), some of the units are in need of renovation (kitchens and bathrooms are tired) and the management company recently instituted several "junk fees" which unnecessarily add to cost of renting here: "Valet Trash Removal" and in-house wifi are annoying, expensive, mandatory charges that add $100+ each month to the bill (Hence 4 star instead of 5 star review). I found the maintenance staff to be friendly and reasonably responsive. The grounds are kept up well and parking is ample. All in all, a great choice if you want to live in Greenwich and not ready to buy a house, just be mindful that it is not the...
Read moreMy parents just moved in after almost 50 years in the same house and have had a rough time since day one! The AC was said to be fixed twice, but still does not work and two indoor units were brought in. The washer and dryer units were filled with debris and mildew. They are incredibly tiny and can't even fit a single load. These have not upgraded. There is also a terrible odor from the basement area that still hasn't left. One of the biggest concerns is that the front steps are broken and tilting sideways. This still hasn't been fixed and it is very dangerous as I don't want my parents to slip, trip and fall.
Eric from maintenance has been wonderful and trying to help in every way possible. He will be missed!
Samara has been wonderful to my parents and is truly a gem! She is trying to help in every possible way!
My hope is that soon everything will be taken care of! An HVAC specialist is definitely needed, someone to fix the front steps asap, an upgraded washer/dryer is an absolute must (perhaps that is what is causing the awful smell downstairs.) Maybe a mold specialist is needed - after almost two weeks of living there the odor/residue hasn't gone away - despite filters and a humidifier.
I know Greenwich Oaks is a wonderful place with awesome amenities - my hope is that these issues will be fixed soon, so my parents can soon live...
Read moreThe Staff is wonderful and they make an effort to solve problems. There is a recurring problem with the central A/C as it stays warm upstairs no matter how hard we try to lower it. Maybe the air handler has a dirty filter; maybe the entire duct system has never been cleaned. The thermostat can never go below 72. Two indoor ac units have been placed as temporary fix, An A/C specialist might be in orddr,
There is a musty odor in the basement level which we have placed two blue air filtration units to try to help.
The washing tandem machine/dryer is very small and needs to be upgraded with two side by side machines with greater capacity. Two large towels is the limit.
When all the obstacles are out of the way, this is an absolutely beautiful community. And my wife and I love the apartment,
I know that LCOR is a great corporation and will make it a great place for everyone.
Samara is wonderful and caring, very professional. Eric has been superb.
