Von Maur has the type of service and charm that you'd expect from an accessible luxury department store. They aren't trying to sell you even though they are. It's a delicate balance that the customer service there is exquisite at. It's my favorite place to shop in all of Greenwood. Unlike the Macy's of the world, Von Maur reminds me of Marshall Fields (sadly bought by Macy's) and to some extent Nieman Marcus (minus the snobbery) in that the staff are knowledgeable, keep up with fashion, attentive but not overbearing, and overall just nice people to talk to. I've been there to help a friend buy a suit, to shop the perfume/cosmetic counter, to try on clearance shoes (you have to stop at the clearance shoe room!), to buy special occassion kid's clothes, to purchase coats, to meet with my shopper - yes, you can ask for a shopper - and try on clothes she picked out for me, to sit with my boys and listen to the pianist, and, today, to purchase Kate Spade merchandise and talk about fashion with the women there who also feel that fashion has lost something special in losing KS's uniquely charming, sweet take on feminine fashion. Overall, I love Von Maur.
P.S. Just to show you how much the staff there take care of customers, I once lost my 4 yo. He ran up the escalator without me and by the time I got up there, he had gone back down. They had almost the entire store looking for him. He had panicked and tried to run out the door, but one of the staff at the door saw him and they announced they had found him. Every parents' nightmare! So shop at Von Maur. Let's keep places like this open, places that care enough about their employees to be closed on Sundays and who obviously treat their employees with respect and kindess, which is then passed on to us as customers.
P.P.S. My one "bad" experience was when they were out of one of my facial creams at the cosmetic counter. I had to go to Macy's. The woman at Von Maur whoe helped me kindly apologized - I admit that I was annoyed -, and when she saw me walking through the store on my way out, she made it a point to ask me if I was able to find what I needed at Macy's. She wasn't mean. She was genuinely concerned that even though I couldn't buy it from her that I got what I needed. She also told me that she spoke with her manager about the issue. Again, just great...
Read moreI am editing this review for an encounter I had with a sales associate in the Juniors Department. I did not get her name. All I asked for was a bag. I had an outfit to return and I did not want to carry it around, and she said no we aren't aloud. The way she spoke and treated me was very disrespectfully and uncalled for. She rudely said that no one in this mall was going to give me a bag. I said she was wrong. I have spent and spend a lot of money with this company. After this encounter with the "Rude" lady. I can honestly say, they will not get another dollar from me or my family. We will no longer ship at Von Maur. So I went to another counter, the mens department and the man gave me one after a lady picked up the phone, so the rude lady in juniors called her and told her not to give me a bag. I couldn't believe it. She kept telling the gentleman to not give me a bag. But he so kindly did. I called and spoke with the "floor manager" Devon who had had that position for 2 years. He said thanks for the feedback. Not once did he apologize for his horrible sales associate treating me so disrespectfully. Clearly alot if the Von Mayr employees needs a refresher on treating your customers with KINDNESS. Even after all that I was so kind, because that is how I was raised. Treat people how you would like to be treated. Till this day I follow that! What Devon should have said was, ma'am or Amy I apologize sincerely. You should not have been treated so poorly, and I will definitely have a discussion with the associate. We here at Von Maur appreciate our customers, because without you there is no us. He should have said something along those lines. Especially an apology. I feel like he didn't take me serious. So... I CAN TRULY SAY .. I WILL NOT SHOP AR BON MAUR! NOPE,...
Read moreRating 100% solely due to the dark haired associate located next to the junior's dresses. If you can not handle a 4 year old coughing without immediately pulling your shirt up over your face and throwing dirty looks as you scurry back to the desk, maybe you should not work in retail. My son was sitting on the floor next to me watching a video when she pushed passed saying excuse me to put clothes back on the rack when he started coughing (mind you he was covering his mouth!!). (6:00 tuesday evening). Seeing how she was acting made me decide NOT to purchase the dress my daughter had found that fit after searching the entire mall based soley on this associates behavior. As we were leaving she then ran to the fitting room to spray disinfectant.. please understand it is also COLD season!! My son saw your reaction and asked if she thought something was wrong with him!!! Wear a mask if you dont want germs but be a little more considerate when you have little people that see your reactions. And the looks she gave me were the same. It's my day off, it was a last min. Decision to run to the mall to see if we could find a dress so I am sorry I wasnt dressed "cute", I was there to shop.. I will never set foot in this...
