Possibly the absolute worst dining experience of my life. Let me preface this by saying we love Japanese hibachi. Having eaten this style food probably 500+ times over the past 33 years, I am experienced with this food type.
We went there for the first time in June 2020. After ordering steak and scallops with a sushi roll thenwife and I shared, I was literally so bloated (gas) that the thread holding my shirt buttons was stretched. Never experienced this in the past with any hibachi so I decided I probably wouldnt be eating there again... until last night. My wife and I joined my daughter and her fiance along with his parents, brother (and wife) and his sister-in-law's parents. Their choice... not mine.
First off, there are 10 of us. COVID mandates limit them to a table of 8 so we had to sit at separate tables. Forget the fact that had we met at someone's house, we would have all been together. I understand not packing a table with 10 strangers, but the mandate is what it is so separate tables it is... an inconvenience, but nothing to get upset about.
Not wanting a repeat of last time, I decided to only order sushi and asked for a sushi menu. When it came time for me to order, I told the waitress to give me a minute, I wasn't ordering hibachi and was only doing sushi. Waitress walks away and up comes the Asian owner, manager, or whatever she was. Owner/manager informed me that if I was going to sit at the hibachi table, I HAD to order hibachi. If I wasn't ordering hibachi, I would have to sit at a table at the other side of the restaurant. Keep in mind that we are a party of 10. It was Tuesday. There were only 6 at our table (our party), 7 at the other table (our party plus another mom, dad, and daughter), and other hibachi tables open with no one waiting for an empty table. Not wanting to sit by myself, I said to just give me the chicken meal. Instead of ordering $30 in sushi, I ordered a $16 hibachi chicken so I could stay with the rest of the party. Bloated again - same result but a totally different meal and absolutely no extra sauces.
Even if this were the absolute best hibachi I had ever eaten and not experienced the bloat, I will not step foot inside this restaurant again... ever. Chef was good and food tasted good, but the fact that I had to order hibachi instead of sushi left a bad...

Just ate at Kumo 8/14/2022 the food had a off taste about it. I thought its a new restaurant and maybe its a different seasoning they used. After finishing eating i felt sick my stomach felt heavy. I was not having problems until after i ate their food. I went to the restroom about a hour later 3 times getting sick.
I went back and expressed my experience and how it made me feel bad and then got sick several times. I said i just want a refund because their food made me sick.
They said we have insurance go to hospital and then bring us a report. They did not give me any information on their insurance or to give to the hospital. They said they wont give a refund and that they have insurance but not what hospital to go to or give to them after i arrive. My stomach feels awful even now such a bad experience and the food was not good at all looked nice but i dont want anyone or their family getting sick trying to eat there. Please avoid eating here at all cost. He just kind of looked at me kind of laughing when he said go to the hospital they have insurance he was smug and not caring to how bad i am feeling.
Food looks good tastes not so good and i feel so bad i am still running back and forth to the restroom i dont want to get stuck with a huge hospital bill and then they say they are not paying for it after making me sick.
AVOID THEM AT ALL COST.

Read moreVery disappointed in Kumo and especially the manager working on April 27, 2021. We went for dinner and to celebrate a birthday with nine adults and children. We sat at the hibachi grill and ordered drinks then was joined by one additional person that wanted to stop by and have a couple of sushi rolls before he went to work. He sat in an empty chair on the end. They came back to take our orders and when he said I only want sushi because I’m not staying long enough for hibachi they insisted that he had to order hibachi or he could not sit there. At our insistence a manager came over. She said the same thing that it was a rule and he could not sit there. We had ordered a bottle of wine, drinks and were all getting hibachi even the two children. Everyone except one that was not staying long enough. When I asked the manager if she wanted our entire party to leave and lose all the sales she said, “YES, I HAVE F#CKING SH*T TO DO!” Needless to say we will never go back. A manager should never speak to customers like that and especially with dozens of dining options only minutes away! They not only lost a couple hundred dollars in sales that evening, they lost all of our return business in the future. Sad when a restaurant allows a manager to cuss at customers. ...
