Love the new location! Everything went great until we got to the cashier. This isn’t the first time that I’ve experienced Filipino workers from Payless gossiping about us right in front of our faces while speaking in Tagalog. I didn’t realize that I left my debit card at home tonight so I was short $20 so we asked the cashier if we can remove 2 items. The cashier seemed nice, but we can tell she was impatient because there were other people behind us...so I guess the lady who had to assist the cashier to remove the items, probably a supervisor, was annoyed and told the bagger that we don’t have money in Tagalog with a negative and annoyed tone (after we just spent $150+ in groceries?!). My boyfriend heard them and replied, “Sorry po” to them respectfully for the inconvenience, catching them by surprise because they probably didn’t think we understood what they said. They didn’t say anything after that. Of course, I apologized for the inconvenience myself and just smiled at them, telling them to have a good night.
I’ve been a cashier myself and it’s not that hard to be kind and have patience towards customers. In the end, the Filipino woman / Supervisor was very unprofessional and lack decent customer service at all. I’m ashamed to be a part of a culture to be talking shxt in our language in front...
Read moreOh boy, where to start with Pay-Less, the one place you know is ripping you off the moment you get inside. Sadly there is no true alternative for this place as most of the grocery stores on island keep their prices high, so high you wonder how it is even possible to buy your food still. But little by little we depend less and less on them as we can order more and more online for much lower prices, even when calculating shipping. Grow more stuff yourself, make your own bread, which by the way tastes way better than that sad excuse for (local) bread options they sell here with the exception of their Japanese bread. Only go here if you really have to get something you can't get anywhere else in smaller grocery stores on island as those sometimes surprise you with much better deals. In short avoid...
Read moreUpon entering, I find the cleanliness, the space and the temperature so appealing& beyond satisfying to do my grocery shopping. Being that it is 24hr is a major bonus in matters of convenience. Our cashier was MsFranny, whom my daughter and I had found to be our favorite cashier when Payless was in AganaShoppingCenter. Lastnight, I actually had to remove a few items from our purchase total (obviously due to a limited budget) and as I started apologizing, MsFranny put my humility at ease by not displaying ANY judgement nor inconvenience& responded ever so politely that she understood then proceeded to assist without making us feel like we're holding up any customer(s). If I could rate more than 5☆, I definitely would because of MsFranny's consistent friendliness, over achieved...
