I normally don't leave negative reviews, especially for local small businesses, but after two terrible experiences I feel like others should be made aware before trusting Antiquarian to repair their jewelery. (I have made two purchases in the last 6 months from Antiquarian, and those experiences were just fine).
Twice this year we have dropped off necklaces for simple repairs. (one, reattach a clasp and the other a broken link on a gold chain). The first time, it took over 6 weeks to get the job done, and my wife was never contacted by the shop to let her know the job was done. They did claim they called her, but in this age of cell phone histories it was pretty easy to see they never did.
Yesterday (Friday, October 4th, 2024) I stopped by to check on the gold chain that I dropped off in the mid-August. I stopped by because the day before I called the shop and the lady on the phone wrote my name/number down and said they would call me back and tell me the status. I didn't get a phone call. Yesterday when I stopped in the lady explained they didn't have a repair person and actually stopped accepting repairs "right after" I dropped off my wife's chain for repair. The chain had not been repaired as of yesterday and they really couldn't give me a time when it could be repaired. So I just took the chain, unrepaired, with me.
It seems the Antiquarian doesn't have an in-house repair person and either has someone come in to do the work or they outsource their repairs.
Either way, the lack of communication and/or the outright intentional miscommunication is...
