On December 11th I found Lady Sofia, my senior rescue dog, on her side and unable to rise. I gently picked her up so I could see what the matter was. Her tongue and gums were turning blue, so I at once rushed her to Gunnison Valley Animal Clinic.
The receptionist explained that the vets were in surgery, and there would be a wait. At that moment one of the vets walked past, and was entering into another room when seeing Lady Sofia, so he stopped to inquire. Once being told of her condition, he motioned for me to bring her into the same room he was about to enter.
A minute after taking her vitals she went into another seizure. He explained that to properly diagnose her condition, X-Rays were needed. I gave him permission to do so. They showed several things wrong, such as how her heart was four times the size of her stomach, had a murmur, and more.
Knowing it would be less stressful for Lady Sofia, he put her on two medications, instructed me on what to do, and we returned home. However a few hours later she became worse. I returned to the clinic, and when the vet saw me in the waiting room, he brought us at once into the examining room. Looking over her X-Rays he then counselled with the other clinic vet. She was given a shot, along with instructions to keep her calm, and have plenty of water for her to drink. I then headed back home with her.
In only a few days Lady Sofia, though wobbly, was able to walk about. A few days later her appetite returned, and by the end of ten-days she was bouncing around the room, and feeling well.
I would highly recommend Gunnison Valley Animal Clinic for all your animal needs. They have compassion for the animal and its owner. The bill didnât break the bank, nor was it a small business loan, but one almost any owner...
Read moreI took my dog here a year ago and it was good they helped my dog at that time. However, in February I has an emergency with my other young dog. Could not get him in to see vet because it was Sunday. Monday called could only get appointment for an emergency after 2pm. He died before I could get him to his appointment. In May I had two horses die. The first one showed signs of lameness and trouble eating. Otherwise fine. Two days later she was dead. Ten days later my show paint came down with the same symptoms. I called this vet told him the urgency and what happened to the first horse. Like my dog no emergency accommodations. 415 was the earliest I could bring her in and if I brought her earlier I would be charged and extra fee. I got there and she was down in the trailer. I ran in and told them. They took their time coming out. When he got out he stood at the trailer and stated "so what do you want me to do, put her down" I then said no I want you to help her. Diagnose what is wrong. He said we don't Diagnose just do pain management. Gave her a shot left us in the parking lot for three hours. When we left he was chasing cows. Two days later I was able to get another vet she had pneumonia and was sepsis. The vet that came out to put her down stated she did not have colic. That whatever she did have could have been treated if diagnosed in time. It was awful. Please don't take your horses to this vet. As for dogs and cats if it is an emergency find someone else. I don't know where he got his degree, but it was the first time a vet told me they don't Diagnose and I have had horse since I was 13 I am...
Read moreI brought my dog here to get a lump removed, dental cleaning, rabies Vax, & blood work. Before making the appointment I asked what the total would be for everything, they said $380. Upon taking him in, and paying at the end, they again said that was the total and had me pay $380 with no communication that I would need to pay more later. They also told me that my dog should be fine without a cone, he shouldn't be able to lick out the stitches, and I could just put a T-shirt on him in case.
A few days pass and my dog licks his stitches out even though he has a T-shirt on. I have to pay an emergency vet fee of $150 because it's the weekend, for them to fix it. While I'm there for this visit, the vet tells me, "oh by the way, you also I will owe $200 when the blood test comes back." Never at any point did anyone tell me I would be charged this extra amount. The reason I asked them on the phone was to gauge if it was worth driving over an hour to this clinic, and if I had known, I would have gone elsewhere. I believe this is a mistake on their part, and as a business they should take responsibility and waive the amount allegedly owed. They had two chances to communicate to me in good time. Not to mention, the extra emergency vet fee I had to pay (and drive two hours for) happened due to the vet tech telling me he would be fine without a cone. They could have told me to use a cone, and I would have.
I hope this business will take responsibility for their actions, but until they do, they get 1...
