I like this store. Of course in this day and age when everything is purchased online from a thumbnail photo of the product you’re intending to purchase, BOY HOWDY it sure is nice to walk into an establishment and have a look at real products in real size, and even have the opportunity to try it on and see how it looks on you, how it feels, and how it makes you feel. I had one of those bad internet purchase scenarios play out in real time. I bought a couple of shirts from the Carhartt online store. Nice shirts to be sure; but not right for me. I don’t at all like synthetic materials, and the work I do puts me in a position to both severely injure myself and simultaneously ruin the shirts. Obviously, that’s a non starter. I let the online folks know the issues I was having and to be fair, a solution was offered and I was refunded, but they gave me an errand. That doesn’t sit right with me. It’s not that I was expecting to drop the shirts into “the Carhartt hole” and expect them to magically be returned to them, but I know where a physical store is! Actually, thanks to Google maps, I know where TWO stores are! I’ll summit Mount Whatsyourpoint now… I brought the shirts back to the Gurnee location to return them. I spoke with Natalie. Sorry if I misspelled your name, hen but I’m sticking to it. Natalie was fantastic! I showed her the return emails and QR codes and the lot and at first she was about to send me on an errand, but she must’ve mustered some kind of retail return superpowers or something! A few taps on the keyboard and a few printed sheets of paper later, the shirts were bagged, the papers attached and it was done! Natalie fixed it so the return would happen from the store and I was free and clear of it. A note for the future, scroll down and the material is listed. I wasn’t aware and sort of assumed all of Carhartt’s shirts were made from cotton. Cotton GOOD! Polyester, rayon, and other synthetics BAD… For me. If you’re still reading, need some Carhartt gear and are in the Gurnee area, go to the physical store and ask for Natalie! She’s a dynamo, and she’ll get you proper sorted. I’d be out of line if I wrote this positive review for the store and for Natalie if I didn’t give a huge THANK YOU to her...
Read moreWent to this location with my wife on 2-September. We walked in and were not greeted by an employee, which would be fine if we weren't the only 2 customers in the store at that time. There were 3 employees standing around a big table in the middle of the sales floor just chatting away. We walked around for 20 minutes and we were ignored completely by the employees almost the entire time. That was until we were on our way out the door, that's when a young man asked my wife if she needed help finding anything. Walked out feeling not only disappointed but disrespected also. We went in for a few reasons, 1 being the 20% sale promoted online and in email's and there was no signage promoting the sale. 2nd reason was, I'm a big and tall guy so we went in thinking the store would have a good selection. And boy was I disappointed, not a single item on displayin my size ranges (4xlt-5xlt) for shirts or pants (52-54). And not much for my wife in her size (1xl-2xl). I think I was not approached because the employees knew the did not or do not carry any BIG AND TALL/PLUS SIZES in the store. So they want my money just not me in the store. That's fine because we have better luck finding our sizes, fit's and color's at our local FARM AND FLEET or TRACTOR SUPPLY. This is such a poor reflection on not only this location but on the Carhartt brand and legacy. Which is rough as I wear something from Carhartt 24/7-365 weither it's socks, shirt, shorts or pants. I can safely say it will be a long time before I return to this location feeling, as though they do not want BIG AND TALL PEOPLE or our BIG AND TALL MONEY...
Read moreLost me as a customer. Came in last weekend to do some shopping and the line was super long. While we were waiting my 9 year old daughter had to use the bathroom and we couldn't because they had the bathroom full of over stock. I asked one of the employees how they use the bathroom and he said, we have an employee bathroom. I said, "great can she use that bathroom?" and he replied, " oh no you can't use it, it's not for the public" Another employee walked by and heard our conversation and interrupted by saying, "according to the law, because we don't serve food we are not obligated to allow you to use the bathroom. You can walk to starbucks." We live in Illinois it was 12 below outside. The starbucks was very far from the Carhartt store and my daughter is 9 she can't do that! We left. Forget you Carhartt. You don't get my...
