The Fig Tree Florist & Gifts — Local services in Hamilton

I debated about posting this review, but in the end I was disappointed. I ordered an arrangement for my mother’s funeral through Teleflora, and they contracted the service to “The Fig Tree”. While the arrangement was similar to what I ordered, I feel it was not the same quality. The arrangement pictured has many more roses than what I received, and not as much cheaper greenery fill. The arrangement I ordered was supposed to be in a white container that resembled a country or shabby chic feel. I received a cheap metal gold container. While I understand that the exact items may not be available and replacements need to be substituted, I don’t feel there was any attempt to even try to make the container similar and they just used one they had to get rid of it. Also I’m not sure whey the number of roses was not consistent and instead substituted for cheaper flowers. Surely a florist has roses on hand. I almost wonder if this florist didn’t think I would be at my mother’s funeral to see the arrangement. I also ordered an arrangement for my daughter to give to her grams at the funeral. I ordered an arrangement for a friend's funeral. My son chose a colorful basket. After the service, we had to go read cards to make sure our order was even delivered, as we didn't spot anything close to what we ordered. Imagine our shock when we saw our names on the card to three pitiful, white carnations in a white ceramic plate of grass! I can understand substituting one basket for another, or a different pink flower for one that is out of stock, but this is just pitiful! I really believe they didn't think we would look for our order and just sent something in a case that wouldn't sell! The flowers were past their prime and the whole thing is just sad. I have been using The Fig Tree Florist for a many years and couldn't be happier with their work and the end product. While living in Boston, I used their services for my mother's birthday, parent's anniversaries, grievances, etc. and they always delivered the most beautiful arrangements. Recently, I've moved back to the Hamilton area and have been using them on a regular basis to make floral pieces for my restaurant -- Teresa and her team make the best color coordinated arrangements to suit the style of my restaurant, which have been most appreciated by the guests of my restaurant.
