Mother Hubbard's Custom Cabinetry — Local services in Hampden Township

On June 5th a representative from Mother Hubbard's showed up to discuss, quote & measure for a custom cabinet to house kitchen appliances. Several options were discussed and went with the one John felt would best suit our needs. We were given a 6 to 8 week timeframe but told it would probably be done quicker than that because of its size. A 50% deposit was given immediately. After 2 months we called to get the status. Was told they would get back. After 4 days we called again and was told we would hear by someone by the end of that day. The next day a subcontractor called us to say he would have the project complete in 2 weeks. 2 weeks later I was told we could have the cabinetry installed but the cabinet fronts were not in yet. At that point we just decided to wait for the finished project. September 1st the subcontractor showed up 2 hours late for a job that he said would only take 1 hour.

1. He stated he did not realize that the drawers were to hold heavy items and was concerned about the structure.
2. The stain does not match the existing cabinets.
3. No drawer fronts were installed.
4. The cabinet front was not securely attached to the drawers leaving a gap.
5. No Toe Kick was installed at base as was discussed and quoted for.

I was told someone would get back to me ASAP. I have yet to hear from John or the subcontractor and it has been 2 weeks. Any business that subcontracts out without informing you and then does not follow up on your satisfaction DOES NOT care about your satisfaction. Here's hoping they call me to...

A few months have passed, and we are still pinching ourselves over the way John, and the team at Mother Hubbard’s Custom Cabinetry, turned our dreams into reality.

The scope of our project was fairly large (a complete kitchen and bathroom remodel, and the addition of a bar area) and it required a ton of decisions; decisions that we definitely could not have made on our own!! But thanks to John’s expertise and guidance, we got everything we wanted … and MORE! The end resulted in three beautiful, timeless, functional, organized, and creative spaces that we love to be in!

It’s important to mention that the entire team at Mother Hubbard’s was great to work with! While we primarily worked our designer, John, and Martin, Carpenter/Installer extraordinaire, we found every member of their team to be friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They are true professionals in the design industry and we highly recommend them!!

UPDATED 1/7/25 Another perfectly executed plan and project by John and the team at Mother Hubbard’s. It is a shame that Google will not allow more than one review per business, because a year after completing our kitchen and master bathroom remodel, Mother Hubbard‘s came back to design and install our beautiful new laundry room and guest bathroom. From design to completion, we are thrilled with our new kitchen from Mother Hubbard's. Our designer, elizaBeth, truly listened to our needs and came up with a design that utilized a previously bare wall and nearly doubled the cupboard and counter space in our 1970's kitchen. She was attentive to every detail, accompanied us to choose fixtures, appliances and flooring, and was there to check on the progress several times a week. We were really impressed with Shawn, who did meticulous, impeccable work throughout the entire project. Drywall, countertop, flooring and painting sub-contractors arrived on time and also did excellent work. There were no delays; the renovation started on the promised date and was completed within the estimated timeframe. The kitchen is a dream to work in now with the new, more efficient floorplan and additional storage space. We love the beautiful new cabinets, countertops, and under-cabinet lighting and outlets.

We were originally given an estimated price range for the entire project, and were surprised and pleased that the final cost ended up being at the lower end of the estimated range.

We would not hesitate to recommend Mother Hubbard's to anyone looking for a quality...
