Really bad customer service experience. Went in a few days ago to get a birthday gift for my nephew. I know baseball season is over , however he is in fall ball and I checked the Dicks website prior to my visit, which in fact stated the item I wanted was at Dicks Hanover. After making multiple loops around the baseball dept, I noticed an employee sitting on the floor stocking shelves. Since he did not come up to me to greet me or ask if I needed any help, clearly I did, I decided to ask where I could find a particular item. He stated everything was out and there was nothing out back. He did not even bother to look up this item, knee guards for catchers equipment. I know they have a PDT that they can look up all inventory and he neglected to do so. I walked out of the dept and went up to the cash because clearly he did not want to deal with customers. I showed the nice lady at the register what I was looking for and that it showed Hanover had plenty in stock. She was happy to go check in the back and came out with multiple knee savers for me to choose from. I mentioned this interaction with a store manager who was working in the golf dept that day and he used the excuse that this employee "normally works in footwear" . That is no excuse. If you work in a store with multiple depts, you should have the knowledge of each dept or at least have a little customer service and check your pdt. I didn;t even ask him to , but that would have been the right thing to do. Poor customer service, but with lack of management I guess that is...
Read moreThis is a great store overall, though I wish the prices were lower. I also wouldn't buy a bicycle from them. I'm a bit of a bike snob so I wrinkle my nose at their inventory, but if you're looking for a cheap kid's bike the inventory is fine. My issue is that they won't let you actually leave the store with the bike you've purchased until their expert bike guy inspects it first - what? Shouldn't the "expert" bike guy have inspected the bike when it was assembled? I found this out at the register after I had paid for the bike. I signed the cc receipt, said thank you, and started to walk out of the store with MY bike that I just paid for and the cashier is like "where are you going with the bike?" "Oh, no, you can't take the bike with you...
Read moreReally went downhill; whoever manages this store really doesn't know what they're doing.
No price tags on the majority of items; for those that have a listed price, its on a piece of printed paper that lists a bunch of items in the vicinity. Couldn't find a price for some pants I wanted, so I just left.
The site has discounts and coupons, but none of which are even shown or advertised in the store. Maybe business has changed that much, but I like knowing how much something costs before I go to the register.
No one approached me at all while shopping, but I kept hearing some kid employee yelling about going on his 30, multiple times; I dont blame him, seems like management just doesn't care. Just not what I expect from such a...
