The owner of this store took seven small long boxes of comics from me back in 2019/2020, packed with '80s '90s and 2000s comics; he would tell me to go for a walk and come back and a half hour and he would have a price for me - usually 4 or $5 for the entire box. A box I hauled there on a wagon. I was a drunk. I took the money. I got sober at the end of that year, and my dad had heard what I did with those boxes. He gave me 10; 7 of which went to Mr Kirby comics here. I didn't have any hard feelings, I even started to go in and buy comics while I was getting sober. I was honestly surprised when I went in with no cash yesterday, couldn't make a purchase at that moment, and he wouldn't hook me up with the free comic book of the day? I didn't say anything - I went back today and attempted to make a purchase, you would think a comic book store could put $5 on your card since most comics are 5 to $6 right? I said just that can I put five on my card, and give you 29 cents of which he replied with an attitude saying he normally doesn't do this at all, and doesn't let anybody buy anything under $10 using a card. This guy has let me use my card to buy $6 $5 $7 comics multiple times during the past 5 years, but today, I can't. I said I really shouldn't have had to come in today to make a purchase, you could have just given me the FCBD yesterday, like a normal store operator probably would have -he took the stuff out of my hand and proceeded to say leave my store, I don't have to give you anything. I said okay, same as it was a 6 years ago huh? I told him you're still the same douche that takes advantage of people. I left the store, done with attempting to go to the local comic store closest to my house - he started rubbing his head and asking why would you bring me collections when you were drinking? Of which I replied because I was a drunk and I needed the money! Not a lifestyle I'm proud I lived, but I survived it, and I'm still here and picked up comics instead of liquor - none of that his fault, his only fault is being a douchebag who doesn't really care about his customers, because if he did he would have just said throw me the thirty cents you got in your pocket and you got yourself a free comic book of the day. Instead - he wanted to be a jerk. He sent me home with a copy of planet of the apes on free comic book day - not the fantastic four from marvel. I really am not trying to sound entitled or anything even close to that but I guess that's what it's going to sound like, even for a free comic book on free comic book...
Read moreFirst time into the store this weekend, what a great experience! The owner is very passionate and friendly, he had a lot of suggestions but without pressuring you, he helps you explore the store to find what you are looking for. They have a great selection and variety here. What I look for is illustration style, so independents and graphic novels is what I mainly purchase. They have a great selection of strange things I haven't really seen and the comics you expect to find monthly. I picked up several books, all with great illustration styles that stood out to me. A lot of times taking a gamble on a book based on the cover art can get you into trouble. Only to get home, open the package and to be disappointed by the art inside. Every book I picked up here (all titles I had never heard of before) had exceptional art. The owner suggested some and I randomly picked out the others. Needless to say I will be returning to pick up some of the other issues of the books I chose, and to explore and try out some other titles I've never seen before. Great little comic shop with a great atmosphere! Glad to have...
Read moreKirby Comics is incredible. We went in on a whim, just happy to find another comic store in our area. Upon entering, we noted that the store was clean and welcoming. There was a good variety of product out for every type of comic lover. The owner Matt greeted us as we entered and asked us what kind of comics we were looking for. We listed a few names for him. He immediately knew who the artists & writers were, and what projects they worked on. He thus pulled out comics and books that fit the bill and told us a little bit about each of them. He also gave us recommendations for titles based on series we told him that we liked. He seems to know his trade incredibly well and is very clearly passionate about comics and anyone that reads them. In the end we picked out several things he suggested as well as a few old favorItes. Checkout was smooth and he thanked us for coming in. With an experience like this, we'll...
