Updated review below.
I made it over to Kroger in Hartland yesterday. I rarely, if ever, go there. Too many stores between here and there. Anyway, I just have to share my experience. You see, I and 3/5 my family are vegan and if I dont want to drive all the way to Ann Arbor to get to a whole Foods, or Trader Joes, I do without. Well I had heard they had something I really wanted. Saw the manager on way in. He personally escorted me to the section. And then the stock person helps me. And then continues to help me and go all over the store as I remember things I need. On top of that my bill was shockingly low. I love my Alpine Market, in Linden, but Kroger has won most of my Walmart business. Customer service and good prices. Wish someone had told me how awesome Kroger was years ago.
Update 11/17/18
The me preface this review worthy the fact that I have given this Kroger a stellar review before. But I have noticed a steady decline in the store in the last couple of years. It all started for me when they took away the natural food section and peppered it throughout store. While I appreciate the fact that spreading it out increases awareness to others it makes it far more inconvenient for me. Last night was by far the worst shopping experience I’ve had in some time. I have the iBotta app and the Kroger app and before I go I prepared these for my trip. Well over half the items I had loaded on the iBotta app were not in stock and the Kroger app wouldn’t show me my coupons. When I asked a young man to help me I was met with a condescending attitude at what he believed was my ineptitude with technology. I’ve used the app many times. I know what I a, doing. And in fact upon reviewing my receipt I could see that it indeed took off the discount but I couldn’t see the list and forgot several items. The cashier was harsh and interrupted me and only put on a reasonably friendly act when telling me of the survey. Don’t even get me started 9n the survey. Total waste of time. It asked me to tell in detail what led to such a poor review and then when I submitted (nearly the same review I am writing here) it toled me I was limited to 1200 characters. On top of that it told me I would be timed out if I didn’t wrap it up. While I was trying to condense my review it timed me out, clearly they really don’t want to hear it. The 1 star review given here is only brought to that level in my mind by the friendly bagger, and the meat stocker who told me my Beyond Beef was no longer available. To finish off this dreadful experience I had to walk by two employees standing right by the exit smoking. They need to take that out back. Although it is farther for me to drive I will be shopping at he Grand Blanc Kroger...
Read moreThis store is ridiculous....everything I come there is over a half-hour wait for either quick check or regular. There is only one, one register open all the time. I have seen workers (3) standing around talking by the quick check register while customers, paying customers, myself included waiting for their help!!! I was very vocal and was told it would be a minute. I left and told them to help the others that were before me. I stood in front of customer service one time for 15 minutes before a worker that was breaking come up and said that no one would be up any time soon!!! She stated they were shirt cause manage was cutting hours and that she was putting in a complaint. All the while there were about 5 people standing around d taking in a back room very visible.!!! I avoid coming here as much as possible and I tell people I know the same to do the same thing. You did have an employee argue with me standing up for the lack of customer service, and i would love to give you his name so you could congratulate him on his dedication to a poorly run store but I was so completely surprised and irritated that this young man had the audacity to argue rudely to an actual older than him (which shows lack of respect) customer that I failed to get his name. I do still come here but only if I...
Read moreI usually love this Kroger. Every day we buy milk and groceries. Usually around 7AM Turdy greets us. She is so sweet. But today I had an unfortunate event. Denae approached me around 2:10PM as I was gathering my groceries. She told me “ I am the store manager, I am the BOSS.” She said she will take away my milk, my lettuce, my bananas, my almond and coconut milk. Not only will she take away all my groceries, she said I will be kicked out of this Kroger forever. Just because I wanted to buy 10 gallons of milk. She said only one milk per person. I was was so embarrassed because she was literally YELLING at me and everyone was watching. There was no sign that said limited quantities or only one milk per person. I have bought gallons of milk at a time here for at least 2 years already and I never had someone talk down to me and treat me like that before. Well if she really wants to kick me out I guess Kroger no longer wants my money. I hope you’re happy Denae for your horrible service. I no longer recommend this Kroger. I’ll shop at Meijer from now. If you want proof, Dairy Manager Jessica and Sarah, another sweet employee and Turdy, along with all the customers at the time, all witnessed this horrible event. As a business owner myself I know this is not how a so called...
