I went to Imperial Jewelers because the diamond in my engagement ring was loose. I had heard that Imperial jewelers had done a lot of work in estate jewelry, and considering my ring is from the 1940's I wanted someone who had experience working with antique gold to fix it. I thought that all that was going to be needed was to tighten the prongs around the diamond. Upon taking my ring in for evaluation the jeweler/owner of the store preceded to tell me that it needed to be re-pronged. I could understand that to some degree considering the age. I then asked her if she knew how to heat antique gold, considering it tends to melt faster than the gold used today, she stated "Yes, heating gold is all the same." At that moment I should have never trusted this woman with my ring, but unfortunately I did.
It took over two weeks to get my ring back, and upon picking it up I noticed almost immediately that something was different. I shouldn't have left and paid sensing something was wrong but I had places to be. After closer examination of my ring I soon noticed that much of the detail originally there was now gone, and that the head no longer set flush with the band of the ring. After I got out of my class I returned to ask her about what she had done. This is when the jeweler/owner accused me of blaming her for lying to me about my ring in front of another customer. I was so distraught that I left the store in tears.
I called the jeweler that I usually use, in Colorado where I'm from, and explained to him what happened and when I would be returning to Colorado so he could look at it. I returned to Colorado 3 weeks after having my ring returned to me and I took it to my jeweler. He looked at it and was able to tell exactly what happened within seconds. At some point the jeweler/owner at Imperial Jewelers decided that it was necessary to re-prong every little diamond in the ring as well as the main stone, this is something I was never privy to, so something completely unnecessary considering the prongs will never wear down on that area of the stone because they are protected by the head. By her preceding to do this she heated the joint of the band and head so hot that it began to slip, causing them to no longer to be flushed. This also explains why the detail on the ring had been eliminated. After my jeweler looked at my ring he said that there was no fixing it and that if I attempted to have it fix it would probably come out worse.
None the less my ring is now ruined from it's original state from which I took it to this woman. She performed work on my ring that was not asked for and in turn provided horrible customer service and a horrible product. Please never trust your jewelry with this person if it means anything at all to you, she will ruin it and do nothing to fix it. I don't want anyone else to suffer the amount of tears I have for a piece that you love.
I hope this helps with any decisions you are...
Read moreExtremely rude, non customer centric place to shop, authenticate or visit the jewellery store.
They will treat you with arrogant, demeaning and disrespectful attitude, feeling regretful to ever stepped in to their store!
PS. An Edit to respond the jeweller.
I brought to the store 8 carat D color VVS clarity diamond ring to authenticate, as the seller shipped the certificate and appraisal documents separately.
The store was unable to read the laser inscription on the diamond, as per them they could not find it and called a spectacular diamond ring a “TRASH ”- stating in a very demeaning manner that “instead of buying a “TRASH” online I should consider shopping local”.
I took the ring to the OTHER jewellers- they immediately found the laser inscription on the diamond which matched to the Certificate Number we were given by the Seller. They complimented the beauty and the quality of the diamond as well as the entire ring and thanked me for bringing such beautiful stone to their shop. I gave them the 5 stars in google review for their approach towards me and I definitely will be shopping with them and NEVER EVER AGAIN AT the IMPERIAL JEWELS due to their appalling, rude customer service and ignorance and inability to authenticate a...
Read moreDo NOT go to this jeweler ever!! They have no idea what they are doing.
I took my turquoise ring there to have a small repair done on the back of the band. When I went to pick it up I was shocked to see that they took all of the patina off of the ring. If you know anything about turquoise you know that people buy these rings FOR the patina on them. In fact I shopped at about 20 antique stores in Colorado before I found the perfect ring that I loved. I bought it for the patina.
When I talked to the owner about it she lied and said that they had to polish it to fix it. The back of the band was the issue so there is absolutely no reason why they would have had to polish up the font of the ring and remove the patina (I have confirmed this with reputable jewelers!). Then she offered to put a fake patina back in the ring (I would not trust them to touch my ring again). No apology on the phone. No apology when I picked it up. Just handed me the ring and that was it.
I really wish I would have read the other google reviews before I trusted this jeweler with my...
