The best theater in the Tri-City area. Recently renovated with with an expanded lobby, reserved seating, and super comfortable seats, it manages to retain an old-school charm while being fairly inexpensive, at least when compared to local competitors like Golden Ticket Cinemas in Kearney.
Unfortunately, the sound systems have not seen any upgrades. While better than what you’d find in theaters like the AMC 7 in Grand Island or Golden Ticket theaters in Kearney, there’s a certain oomph lacking in the bass department and clarity when it comes to dialogue that a good theater experience is known for. Dolby Atmos or even Dolby Atmos-adjacent this is not.
The screens are also just fine. They’re well-maintained and clear, but lack any new advancements in screen tech like HDR/Dolby Vision etc. I know this seems like a lot to expect for what’s in essence a small town theater, but Fridley (the owner) has some incredibly nice theaters in Iowa so I wish they would really commit to this one. Combined, the basic audio/visual presentation is what keeps me from handing this theater a five stars.
However, taking into account what used to be and what’s left in Grand Island, this theater is the best when taking all aspects like prices, comfort, and audio/visuals into account and well...
Read moreIt is WAY better than the Imperial. I'm serious. They have the main theatre, which is wonderfully constructed. Then you have two more on the sides, which are more like whah you see nowadays, instead of the grandure of the main theatre. As far as I can tell, the main is for big releases that they're expecting a ton of people for. Like Star Wars or San Andreas. The side theatres are for movies they aren't expecting many people for, like more kids oriented movies. Kung Fu Panda is one example I can think of.
As for concessions, the popcorn is great, they have all major candy, and some lesser known ones. They have various seasonings for sale, like white cheddar, butter, and ranch. The staff is friendly, and well dressed. When you walk it, you follow the red ropes to try the ticket booth where you receive your ticket, and 3D glasses if you are watching a 3D movie.
Overall, I had a great time, and will continue to see movies at the Rivioli. "Enjoy the Magic of...
Read moreI have 5 kids and have traveled the U.S. from coast to coast with them and they made sure I left a review that this is the best Theater they have ever visited. I have family in Nebraska and it was such a pleasure to see the transformation with the seating and the comfort this small town provides. We are always on the lookout for great local business and we do our best to visit and support local businesses. Kudos to the owners, staff of this establishment. We would watch every movie here if we could, keep up the great work and anyone reading make sure to always support your local businesses.
