Edited to add: As per the recommendation of the owner in the reply to my review, I did call the salon today. I spoke with the manager who wanted to debate the cost of the service I got, but then understood that I got the spa pedicure. The manager would only offer a repolish. When I explained that I already re-did the entire pedicure myself, she explained that they don't offer refunds and would give me a free polish the next time I come in. No, thank you. Except for the massage, the pedicure was a mess, not just the polish. I won't be coming in again.
Yesterday evening, July 3, 2024, was my first time at Art Tech. My bonus daughter booked us spa pedicures together for 6:00. I was informed my technician would be Amy. The salon was very clean and the staff were friendly. My water was luke warm. By 6:30, my pedicure still wasn't started, and my water was cool. The hostess offered an apology, and assured me it would only be a few more minutes. At 6:45, Lisa started my pedicure. She was very polite, brought me a water, the jasmine lotion smelled great, and the massage was nice. I chose a pastel gray polish with a silver sheen overlay for my color. Since this was my first time, I observed. I wondered why there wasn't much work done on the cuticle area or with rough skin around the toes, but I gave Lisa the benefit of the doubt. Maybe some salons do things different or have different protocol to follow. I'm a runner who is very hard on her feet, and I usually take care of them on my own. Maybe twice a year I treat myself. The pedicure and polish were completed, they looked ok, I spent time under the dryer, paid, and left to run an errand. It wasn't until I got home and put my feet up that I noticed the worst finished product I've ever had. The cuticles weren't pushed back, I still had spots of old polish that weren't removed, there was file dust in the new polish, my toe nails were crooked, the pastel gray didn't cover the whole toe nail, and the silver overlay didn't cover all of the pastel gray. One of my toe nails was filed to a diagonal point. I had another toe nail that was cut at the corner, and left sharp and well, missing a corner. By 8:00 this morning, July 4, 2024, I was removing polish, and soaking my feet to give myself a proper pedicure. The toe nail that was cut at the corner had to be filed down so far just to make it look straight, and my toe is actually sore now. The finished product I received from Lisa at Art Tech looked like it was a month old and done by a 10 year old child. I know that's harsh, but that's the reality. The only thing that will make this right is a refund of the $60, including tip, that I paid, which I don't expect to get. I won't be going back to Art Tech, but I am grateful for the reminder of why I do my own pedicures. I didn't have the same colors at home, so I went with a pastel sage with a black and white confetti overlay. Pictures are of their work yesterday, and my work this morning. We all work hard for our money. Some of us don't have extra money often. It's very disappointing to expect a professional service and end up throwing money out the window. I take pride in my job, and I didn't get that feel from the job Lisa did. I was her last appointment of the night, which shouldn't make a difference,...
Read moreI had a reservation arrived a few minutes early. Am instructed to pick out color. Then a white lady walks in behind me and ends up at the nail color station too. Somehow she is seated at least 7 min before me. Then I get what I can only imagine is the newest girl. New to the country and the shop. She does not understand ANYTHING I try to tell her. She waits until after my pedicure to get the polish I chose only to tell me there isn’t more. (Why do you have colors out that you no longer carry or how did you run out without ordering more?). So now I have to pick out another color AFTER pedicure but before nails. I bring this up because what should have been an 80-90 min visit was two hours. What with her having to ask about everything! The manager def heard some of these occurrences as well as other techs. NO ONE came to aid us in the language barrier. I get nails done as a form of self care. When I walked out I made a loud noise in frustration as I wanted to maintain my composure in the store. (*note, Helen did do very well on my pedicure but it was not worth the hassle of the visit by any means). Upon leaving, the Apple Pay doesn’t work so I give my CC. I have to ask about where’s the tip option. She replies “oh they prefer cash”. Ummm, so. Not to be crass but who is the customer here. It’s stuff like that that ppl end up not tipping.
2 days later, I return with a nail repair. And like my first visit, there are prices being rang up but not communicated upfront. They really tried to charge me a repair in less than 2 days.
The saddest of all this is my GF referred me to them while i visited from out of town. I would not recommend them to my enemy.
If companies want Black ppl to stop “crying racism” then they need to uphold a standard of good service to ALL GUESTS! All the white ladies in there had big smiles on their face because they were being handled gently — you know, like they’re there to be pampered. Not my experience at all.
PS - in pic with both hands is after the repair. Two different nail...
Read morei wasn’t going to post a review about my experience as i figured i’d cut some slack and come back to give it another shot but, i’ve had these nails for 10 days today and my left thumb nail broke off while i was cleaning not even lifting anything heavy or doing any kind of hard work at all! just sweeping and mopping doing laundry and such…. this was a new full set i had gotten on 11/15 and today is 11/25. im pretty upset i spent my hard earned money not to mention $80 for this set when the artist couldnt complete the design i asked for after she said she could which i have no problem with but she tried and removed the gel design well over 10 times due to error and ultimately resulted in me asking for small black hearts in place of the flames.. i thought for sure that because my design wasn’t able to be achieved and the mess that was caused to the nail from the black polish being smeared around when being removed that the price would be adjusted accordingly but i was wrong. not only was i wrong but their website states a full acrylic set is $47. now i expected the price to be more even close to $60 but not $80… even according to their website with the add ons it doesn’t add up but especially considering the fact that my thumb nail broke off after i already wasn’t happy leaving the salon with my nails some if not all having polish spillage over my cuticles, i peeled off clear polish off of the skin of my fingers after leaving and the design just isn’t good. if my nail didn’t break i wouldn’t have posted this review and i may have even come back to give another chance but after seeing what i got the first time im just not interested. i left a $15 tip for my nail tech as well adding up to a total of $95! major MAJOR rip off!! i’ve been around a long time and these nails certainly shouldn’t look like this or be in this condition for this kind of price, not that the price is affordable anyways to be honest. looking...
