I found the side-by-side I wanted on HCâs website and started an app for financing. I had no intention of completing it until I was in the building where I could see the UTV and have any questions answered.
The following morning, I received a text from both a sales rep and the sales manager. About an hour later, I called the rep only to receive a text stating, "In a meeting, I can text.â This caught me off guard since we had already established I was a potential buyer, and he couldnât step out of a morning meeting to establish some rapport. CRM 101. After telling him about my interest in a specific model, the sales rep responded immediately, "I need you to finish the credit app.â Verbatim. First of all, I'm not going to have a hard inquiry on my credit report unless I'm certain of the purchase. Second, a little âThats a great choice. That UTV blah blah blah,â or showing any interest in an investment I was about to make would be appreciated by the next customer you deal with (you know who you are). Acknowledge my interest and show some enthusiasm.
Later that day, I took my son out to HC to go through the proper process of making a major purchase. As I was walking through the showroom and passing several sales personnel, Jennifer Mitchell greeted us. She answered questions, showed me the specific model I was interested in, and made the whole experience pleasant.
The hidden fees were never mentioned, and the downpayment and paperwork portion of the purchase were rushed and vague. The only price mentioned was the retail price until after my credit was run and the paperwork was being signed. I was completely blindsided!
I might be ignorant because this is the first UTV I've bought, but the hidden fees include: Freight ($1,674) and Dealer Prep/Rigging fee ($734). In the future, simply take five minutes to go over the buyerâs order. My credit was run before I even knew exactly the amount I was financing. Very shady method of doing business.
I mean, these side-by-sides are the price of vehicles these days. Tens of thousands of dollars, and I've purchased several vehicles in my life, and I knew exactly what amount I was financing before giving them my SSN. When I'm getting a recreational vehicle for over $20k, be transparent with everything. I'm buying the damn thing from you. I had to read it line by line to see how a price grew $5k from the last time I heard the price mentioned.
Just be a good person is all I'm saying, recognize the situation. I'm already in the store with all intentions to make a purchase. Resemble something that has a hint of professionalism in it and a little less slippery base head selling a hot bicycle.
Anyways, my kids love the UTV so I'm happy. HC, take the critique to heart and train your staff in the art of the deal. The president wrote a whole...
Read moreI am going to start this review off my saying, if I could give them a negative star I would. So we were out of towners visiting this store to purchase a brand new, off the floor item. The first salesman decided to hackle us for 30 mins and then folded under the pressure leaving us with a new salesman who we found out after all was said and done; did not stay true to his promises.
The initial process was around closing so we told the salesman we would be back in the morning at 8am!! He said "perfect, we will have the item all ready and set for you to leave after a few signatures. COOL right? Wrong. We arrived at said time - the battery was dead because they forgot to turn the key off overnight. They did not even have all of the pre check requirements even started.. meanwhile; they are our hold up when it comes to making the 12 hr drive back home. So they said, we will have it done by 11am with a promised half of tank of fuel... got back at 11am... was greeted by our sales man who literally said "let me help these other customers over here with something, and i will be right with you"... after we just spent over 35k with them. yeah sure, take your time buddy. So we FINALLY get to the final inspection of our new purchase (meanwhile, they wouldnt let us take it for a test drive, which we found to be odd) anyway; as promised a half of tank of gas... we thought. Well, we thought wrong. the salesman left to get the card to pay for the fuel; AND NEVER CAME BACK! Not a hand shake, a thank you, nothing!
So, we are a month later - we are registering our purchase - we reach out to Hattiesburg Cycles for a signed document (that should have already been signed) and come to find out - THEY SCREWED US OUT OF MONEY - and coincidently, found their "error" and is sending us a check.
You know that feeling when your walking around a car lot and your like " ah man, here we go with the fake smiles and awkward questions"?... I would actually welcome that in comparison to the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and overall knowledge you get at this business.
The only good experience I got out of this.. is the ones we are making with our purchase after we left!
its...
Read moreDecided to check out a couple units at this place with some family members who were interested in a side by side. Showed interest in a 35k+ unit, the FIRST salesman was throwing out numbers he never had the authority to say, had zero knowledge of the unit, eventually just hid around the corner while the SECOND salesman introduces himself. Same process, the only information he knew about this unit were the storage compartments. Had to of been 5 times he went back and fourth to his manager to figure out the out the door price. Every time he came back he only wanted to know if we wanted the short or long term monthly payments, nothing about the actual price of the unit. After 2 hours of just waiting around, a price was agreed on. Said theyâd have everything ready in the morning.
We show up in the morning, unit is still in the showroom, battery dead, paperwork not finished. Told us to come back at 11am, just for things to still NOT BE DONE. They promised a full tank, thing was still on a quarter. To top it off, they tried screwing over the customer by charging tax/title/registration and never registering it. Quickly found their âerrorâ once called and overnighted the check.
Bottom line, salesman need to be knowledgeable over the units theyâre attempting to sell to customers, HAVE THE UNIT READY IN THE MORNING FOR THE CUSTOMER. If im the manager and someone just purchased our top of the line or even lowest, I personally would ensure itâs taken out of the showroom before close and ready for customer to test drive and inspect before paperwork in the morning. When the customer comes in who just purchased a unit, they have first priority over a customer browsing, you donât tell them you have to help out these other people real quick.
I personally will never purchase from here, I would recommend the...
