I took a walk around puna kai, the new shopping center. And it looks beautiful! Sushi place is open, vape shop, L & L. Coco resturaunt and bar. And it looks like they are taking applications for new patients at the new animal hospital. Looks like pizza hutt will be open soon. And there's a website for the new gym foreverfitnesspuna.com , i can't wait to make new memories at this shopping center. I'm so happy that they will have a goodwill a place to donate items. As well as a jeans wear house. A place i can bring my daughter when she is a teenager. I'm also really really looking forward to pizza delivery. Trying popeyes chicken. And having a McDonald's close by for my daughter and her love for happy meals. I think an arcade or FUN FACTORY. As well as a MOVIE THEATER. Is all we need in this new shopping center and i would say it is a smashing hit!!!. I can't WAIT for all the extra SPACE we're going to have in this new malama market. Because the old malama market is way way too small for our swelling population. A new and bigger post office for pahoa is also needed. I'm so excited about the future of our community. And how its growing. I hope one day we will have everything on our island that honolulu has on their island. It would make so much more sense for developers to come to the BIGGER island. Rather then squishing everything into one tiny island like oahu. Can't wait till we one day have a water park, an amazing zoo, an aquarium, a cheesecake factory, dave n busters, polynesian cultural center, sea life park, an ice palace and ice skating ring, Victoria secret, sephora, Honolulu has so many amazing and fun things for their children to do. Im super jealous. And think they should bring the ferry back. Can you imagine how much fun our kids would have if we had a water park and ice skating ring here in puna?! Our kids definitely need it! I think puna kai is one big step in...

Read moreBeutifully appointed shopping complex at the gateway to Pahoa Village. I appreciate that the developer tried to implement elements of old Pahoa into the center whilst keeping it fresh and modern, the central square or park is a great feature and really ties together complex. At Puna Kai you have a mix of local and national tenants covering most categories: grocery, bar, restaurants, eateries, fast food, medical/office, automotive and apparel. So Puna Kai is really a one stop place in lower Puna if you wish not to venture all the way to Hilo. Im also pleased to learn the County will be putting in a transit center and library across the street, really creating that 'town center' feel for Pahoa. It would be nice if the post office would locate nearby and Meridian Pacific should consider surrounding parcels for apartments & townhomes to round out a truly walkable...
