I recently had the privilege of experiencing the Volcano Ohana Fat Tire E-Bike Tour at Volcano National Park in Volcano, Hawaii, and I am absolutely thrilled to share my raving review of this unforgettable adventure! This tour was an absolute gem, and I can't stop raving about it.

First and foremost, our tour guide Byron was an absolute superstar. His passion for the park and his extensive knowledge about its history, geology, and culture were truly impressive. Byron's friendly and warm demeanor instantly put our group at ease, and it was clear that he genuinely cared about making our tour an unforgettable experience.

What truly sets this tour apart is the mode of exploration – electric fat tire bikes. As someone who lives on the island and has visited Volcano National Park multiple times, I thought I knew the park like the back of my hand. However, the E-Bike tour introduced a whole new dimension to my experience. Riding the fat tire e-bikes through the lush and scenic trails of the park felt like I was uncovering hidden treasures around every bend. The feeling of freedom and exhilaration as we glided through the diverse landscapes, from dense rainforests to barren lava fields, was simply unparalleled.

The electric fat tire bikes were not only incredibly fun to ride but also made the tour accessible to participants of varying fitness levels. They effortlessly handled the park's diverse terrain, including both challenging uphill climbs and thrilling downhill descents. It was a breeze to keep up with the group, and the E-Bikes allowed us to cover more ground in less time, making the most of our tour.

The experience of witnessing the awe-inspiring volcanic landscapes up close and personal is something that will stay with me forever. The lava tubes, steam vents, and vibrant plant life were even more captivating from the saddle of an electric fat tire bike. Byron's informative commentary along the way provided fascinating insights, adding depth to the beauty of the park.

For locals like me, this tour is a reminder of how we can rediscover our beloved island in a whole new light. And for visitors, it's a must-do to truly connect with the natural wonder that is Volcano National Park. It's an adventure that everyone should embark on, regardless of their level of familiarity with the area.

Volcano Ohana Fat Tire E-Bike Tour at Volcano National Park is a must-do experience that exceeded all my expectations. With an exceptional guide like Byron and the incredible freedom and versatility of the E-Bikes, it's the ultimate way to explore the park. I can't recommend this tour enough, and I am already planning to do it again. Don't miss out on this epic adventure that will leave you with memories to treasure...

My husband and I had looked forward to the E-bike activity as a highlight of our vacation, however, I was the victim of a very unprofessional business practice involving the owner of this business. After being personally flexible with the owner of this business and changing the date of my reservation on very short notice, it turned out that my husband experienced an unexpected medical condition right at the start of the activity on the new date and was unable to go on the ride. I did go on the ride. I called Heather Tate, the owner, the next business day and requested a refund for my husband's portion ($200). She flat out refused, essentially saying that "a contract is a contract", despite the fact that there were at least 20 individuals in the group that day. As a person, she showed absolutely no sympathy or compassion for my husband's unexpected medical condition, and said I was disrespecting her business by even asking for a refund. Again, this is after I compromised the day before by altering my plans so her business would not have unnecessary expense. Due to the severe lack of kindness and understanding exhibited by this organization (I could be harsher), I would suggest folks stay away from this business. I was highly impressed with the activity overall, though, and would have given it 5 stars had the unfortunate incident above not occurred.

Additional comment to the owner's comments below -- the person knew how to ride a bike very well. There was a medical condition that occurred on the way over the mountain to the national park that caused a balance problem. The owner does not seem to be able to listen to...

My teenage daughters and I had the most fabulous Private Van Tour with Volcano Ohana. I don’t have enough room to explain in detail how wonderful it was.

Prior to our tour, I spoke at length with Heather about the different tours they offered. She listened and made note of the special places we wanted to visit, and also made suggestions based on our ideas.

Within 24 hours she emailed a wonderful, custom itinerary - complete with our preferences as well as other ideas Byron and she thought we would enjoy. The schedule kept us on task, yet the tour was very relaxed and we did not feel rushed.

This could not have been an easy task, given the fact that they were accommodating 2 teenage girls and me. I am somewhat limited in my ability to participate in many activities due to some minor disabilities.

From the planning of the tour to the actual trip, Byron and Heather were both professional and personable. When they picked us up at our vacation rental, we immediately felt comfortable and confident that the day would be a success, and it most definitely was!

Both were a wealth of information. So in addition to having a great time, we also learned a great deal about the island and it’s customs.

Because this tour was so successful and because it actually “lived up to” the actual plan, we plan to return and participate in their other tours.

I highly recommend this company to anyone of any age whether you want to just go site seeing, or be adventurous, or want a combination of both.

Whatever you decide for your tour, you will NOT be disappointed!

Many thanks to...

Wow. Incredible family day! Our guides Tyler and Kaylon were informative, personable and made the day! Ebiking was such a cool way to explore the park. No worries about traffic or parking. We went to the site of the recent eruption and instead of walking to the overlook in the hot sun we simply parked our bikes. There were no cars. We then hiked the Kilauea Iki crater. A geology expert joined us to lead the hike and teach us all about the crater. That was an unexpected surprise. This was a surreal hike... the weather changes from hot sun to drizzle, overcast to sunny quickly. We were all prepared with rain jackets. Lots of steps descending then a steady incline with switchbacks coning up. It was challenging, but well worth the work. Then, we went to a picnic spot where a delicious homecooked lunch was set up for us. Sandwich fixings on delicious home made bread, and even home-made baked goods for dessert. We felt like VIPs. This company truly goes above and beyond for their customers. This was not a cheap tour, but felt like a good value considering the stellar customer service leading up to and all during the day. A day we won't forget. For reference we had a group of 10, 16 years to 75 years old. My only tips would be if you use hiking piles bring them for the hike. And, since their were bike bags most of us didn't bring backpacks. Having a backpack with extra water on the hike would have made it even better. Excellent!

The Fat Tire E-Bike Tour was a FANTASTIC way to explore Volcanoes National Park. So much fun zipping from scenic sight to scenic site. Nicole was an amazing guide, from training us how to ride the fat tire e-bikes to answering every single question. She is a walking encyclopedia about volcanology, geology, meteorology, and adventure. Five stars!!

If you’re looking for an incredible way to see Volcanoes National Park, then book yourself the Fat Tire E-bike Tour through Volcano Ohana. We’ve been fortunate enough to do e-bike tours in several cities in Europe and this one was our favorite. The bike is a beast, in a very good way. Don’t let their size scare you off. They handle extremely well as you traverse the park. If you’re lucky you’ll get Phil, the Michael Bluth of e-bike tour guides, as your guide. Our group was smaller so we only had one guide and Phil was the ideal man for the job. He’ll make sure your group is cool with the bikes before heading out. Furthermore, he was engaging, knowledgeable, flexible and genuinely friendly. Our smaller group was happy to go off the beaten path and Phil obliged. Also, the man knows a good cookie so when he recommends CookKwee’s Maui Cookies, listen. He knows what he’s talking about. This tour is worth the money and time. So glad we did it. Highly recommend it as a part of a trip to the Big Island.
