When I closed on a home in Fair Lawn, NJ in July, 2018, I wished to have wall-to-wall carpet in a large MBR in my new home. I had in mind a very specific pattern and color for which samples were not available in the showroom. The matter was complicated because I was in NJ visiting in anticipation of a future move from my home in Pittsburgh, PA to NJ. I described what I wanted to the salesman with whom I worked; he arranged for a sample of carpet to be delivered to my home in Pgh. When the sample arrived, it was EXACTLY what I wanted. We placed an order with the caveat that the store would store the carpet until such time as my contractor would arrange for the installation. This all took place while I was still in Pgh. The carpet was installed and I saw it in late September when we moved into our NJ home. First, the carpet was elegant and garnered comments from all who saw it including my contractor and family. A few months later after vacuuming, there was a 2 inch flaw/separation along one of the seams. I contacted Abbey and a carpet installer arrived promptly to make the repair. The carpet is lovely and my experience with Abbey Carpet (long-distance) has been seamless, professional, personal and entirely exemplary which is why as I prepare for another move within NJ, I hope to work again with Abbey to install carpet in the MBR in my new home--AND I suspect it will be the...
Read moreI had been to a couple of other carpet stores in the area to no avail. I was then referred to Abbey Carpet by a friend who loved the new stair runners which they had installed. I happen to be very picky and had a very particular vision of what I was looking for. So I had found a handful of carpets on the internet that I felt might work for us and emailed them to Kurt. He patiently went through each and contacted the various manufacturers to find out about availability. To his credit, in all my back and forth with him, Kurt maintained a calm, professional demeanor in spite of how busy they were. Ultimately, I did go to their store and found that they had a great selection of samples to look at – I found a few that I liked and which Kurt brought to our house when he came to measure. We narrowed it down with his advice (taking into account appearance, appropriateness of material, and cost), and ended up with the perfect carpet for our stairs. The installers did a great job as well, and we couldn’t be happier with our runners! Kurt was even so kind as to bind, at no additional cost, the remnant of carpet that was left so that we could use it in our entryways. We are happy to recommend Abbey...
Read moreWe wanted a new vinyl floor in our 3-season / breezeway room and neither Home Depot or Lowe's would install because the room is not temperature controlled. After about a month of looking, we found Abbey.
We visited the Abbey showroom and met with Glenn, who showed us a couple options and said they could absolutely install the sheet vinyl floor, AND guarantee it. Our floor was a custom order, so it took about a week to come in and schedule the install. On installation day, when they unrolled the vinyl the manufacturer (not Abbey) had the floor folded/creased on the roll, so it was damaged and could not be installed. Installer said he hadn't seen something like that in 20 years!
In business, problems are expected from time to time, and the mark of an excellent business is how quickly they address/fix the problem.
Glenn was amazing, immediately contacting the manufacturer, getting the new floor expedited, and even laid a "loaner" floor using stock vinyl he had on hand because we were having a party that weekend and needed the room to be finished.
I would highly recommend Abbey Flooring as a better alternative to the "big" outlets, as their service, selection and pricing...
