Public Storage — Local services in Hawthorne

It’s a nice place and everyone who works there is nice and really chill. Overall the facility is clean, aside from the occasional dying field mouse :( and only downside is the bathrooms aren’t unlocked so you have to find someone working there to open em for ya. The biggest issue w the company I have is how they handle pricing. I rented a unit in March 2022 and had the special deal of $1 for the first month and then $99 give or take a few for each month afterwards. I got an email the other day (end of July 2022) stating my rent is increasing by almost 40% in September 2022, 37.7% to be specific. I understand for new units the price would be higher, but for customers who’ve been on time w payments and use the facility without issue, this sorta rent hike is ridiculous. Just be careful please if you’re looking to rent.

EDIT: They were nice enough to extend the rent I signed up for, for another 3 months. The staff are super nice at this location, and a lot more reasonable than corporate since I spoke to the district manager about this rent issue, and he claimed I he would reduce my rent. He never sent me a written documentation about it even though I explicitly asked for one multiple times, and the rent adjustment he claimed would happen for me never occurred. Thankfully, the staff at this location were much nicer and understanding.

EDIT (Again): The staff are always nice, and super understanding normally. My unit required maintenance, which required me to move my stuff, but thankfully the staff are super understanding about it all and were extremely helpful. They made sure to get me an almost identical unit to the one I moved from, and the were always super communicative about it all, making the whole process...

You should know what you're getting into. . . I've been a renter for a bit because it is convenient to me. The toilets are rarely cleaned and stocked with necessities like hand towels. Enter at your own risk, and hold your nose. Maintenance is nonexistent in the common areas. There are too few carts to move your items. If you move at the beginning of the month, plan with your own dollies because there won't be carts available for you. . . guaranteed. You'll get whacked with a usurious late fee of $100 if you are a day late with your payment. When you call the 800 number to complain, you will not get through to a real human. They will raise their rates virtually every year, and if you ask for the rate that new customers get, they will tell you you have to move out and move in to another unit to take advantage of the offer. The person behind the desk has no authority to handle your complaints; you'll have to call the 800 number for redress. . . good luck with that. If this is a short term rental, hold your nose and sign. If it's for anything more than a few months, find...

This review has been almost a year overdue, was suppose to write this review last year.

The facility is right off of the highway and could not be missed. Security system is up to date, facility is clean, well lit, and climate controlled. While I was researching local storage places, their prices were the most competitive. If you need help with anything, the staff is more than happy to lend a hand.

What makes this place awesome are the people. Due to my work schedule, it was very difficult for me to find the time to move my things into storage . Cristian very thoughtful and made sure that I was still able to move my things with the limited time I had. He even sold me a masterlock and showed me how to use it! While I was unloading my heavy furniture, he offered to lend a hand without me asking! I come back to pick things up and Cristian and the rest of the staff knows me by my first name!

I came for the price though I stayed because of the staff. If Cristian ever leaves, my loyalty will...
