Hawthorne Liquors — Local services in Hawthorne

Called Hawthorne liquor to see if they carried Carolina and asked for the price. The person said $16.99 for the medium size. So I went there, saw the $16.99 price and took the bottle and when I brought it to the register he said that will be $21.31 please. I said the bottle is $16.99. The person behind the register said no it’s $19.99. So I went back to the shelf and looked and sure enough it said $16.99 right in front of the medium bottles. So I walked back to the register and said it is $16.99. He said no it’s not it must’ve been in the wrong spot. I said no it’s not and I went back there a 3rd time and pointed it out to one of the workers who verified that it is $16.99 but said that prices fluctuate and they must have forgotten to change the price tag. I said “you don’t you honor the price that’s on the shelf?” , and he said that’s an old wive’s tale and it’s not a law and we don’t need to honor that price. I went back to the register again and told the man behind the register what the worker said and he said no it’s just misplaced, not mismarked. At that point, I should have just left the store. If it wasn’t New Year’s Eve and I needed this bottle in the final 15 minutes before they closed, I would’ve walked right out of there. They were both very callous and could not care less about customer service. I would love the owner to read this. Unless of course one of them was the owner. Nice little neighborhood store with a really good, solid wine collection for it's size. The owner knows what he is buying when it comes to red wine. Inside is much larger than you would expect and is tidy and clean. I found the staff to be courteous, friendly, and helpful. Very surprising store. I stopped in not knowing what to expect and found a larger wine selection with s knowledge staff as well as a pretty good bet selection and everything else you would expect in a neighborhood...
