I originally went in for a haircut with Jessica - first time there. I implicitly let her know that layers do not work for my hair texture and that i wanted it styled off my face. What does she immediately do? Cut short layers and start styling it to fall into my face by cutting the wrong angle. When I asked her to stop, she literally said, "If you are going to be telling me how to cut hair, you shouldn't be my client!" What? Then halfway through, we go back to the sink, re-wet my hair, she diffuses it to be wavy (probably because she is realizing layers don't work) and starts cutting it dry, uncombed, and without any method that I could see. I could go on with all of it but the end result? Completely uneven cut (left side literally over an inch longer) no style, big gaps in my hair, a lovely mushroom effect around my head from the too short top layer and a duck tail in the back from the mess she created there. I leave disappointed. I call back in a few days because it is even worse than I thought in the chair and they talk me into coming back at 8 pm (three days later!) saying that I should come in so late so that they will have time to fix it. I drive across town, show up, and am told they only have 5 minutes for me! Seriously? The owner even has gall to say "It looks good in a hat!" So now they want me to come back again for the fix and the earliest they can accommodate me is TWO WEEKS LATER! They literally sent me out the door to deal with their ineptitude for two more weeks!
I did not want to write a bad review but they have left me with no choice. They are lucky I can't post a pic of the disaster on my head! Unprofessional, untrained, and too full of themselves to listen to their clients or even fix their mistakes in any kind of timely manner. On a positive note, their lobby staff is very friendly. Beware this place - their attitudes aren't worth it and their skills...
Read moreDEC 2023- Craft Salon is a mess in the scheduling department, which is a shame since their stylists seem really talented :(
I was excited to get a cut with Carol in May '23 but just a few hours before, I received a text from the front desk that they were running behind and I would need to reschedule or cancel my visit. This was super disappointing as I had booked the appointment weeks in advance, but I let it slide as things happen and salons get busy. I had no choice but to cancel as I was leaving the state and could not get an appointment with Carol before I had to leave.
I wanted to give this salon another chance so I booked a cut with Carol for today December '23. I arrived at the address stated on this Yelp page and Apple Maps: 522 E 11 mile road, Royal Oak. Admittedly I was running a few minutes late to the appointment due to the storm and backup on 75 and communicated this to the front desk. When I arrived at 1:06 pm for a 1pm appointment it was clear that the address on this Yelp page and Apple Maps is INCORRECT - they are actually located in Hazel Park, which was 8 mins away. I drive to the "correct" location in Hazel Park but by this time it was 1:16 pm and the front desk would not take me.
Unfortunately, trying to get in with this salon twice now has wasted my time and energy. I understand that salons run behind and sometimes we need to reschedule clients occasionally. I understand that arriving on time is ideal, but storms happen -- we were backed up in low visibility conditions on 75 at 30 mph from Auburn Hills to Royal Oak, but still made it to the appointment within a reasonable window ~ 6 mins late. What is inexcusable is the incorrect address on both Yelp and Apple Maps which causes unnecessary distress for clients. I will be going elsewhere, which I regret to have to do because I've heard nothing but good things about...
Read moreI ended up hating my haircut. I had a very clear inspiration picture that wasn't really that hard to execute but I felt like my stylist looked at it for 2 seconds We talked briefly about what I wanted. I would have accepted if she stated some of what I was asking for wouldn't really align with what I wanted but she just kind of accepted it all then did it all and I ended up with a haircut that looked nothing like my inspiration picture. I was essentially left with a bland, one layered bob that was short. when I went home I had to add layers myself for texture in it. I honestly cannot wait for my hair to grow back and I hate my haircut. I specifically said I didn't want bangs because I didn't want them falling in my face but that I was ok with some LONG curtain bangs if you will and she gave me bangs athat fall right below my eyes so I can't put them back appropriately and they're not at all what I was going for. I pretty much get frustrated and almost cry each time I have to style my hair for work. My hair is a big way I express myself and I'm so frustrated.
I'm not usually much of a complainer but tending and looking into inspiration pictures more and having a full consultation with the clients would probably be beneficial than rushing through it and the entire haircut so you can get to your...
