Kozy Lounge — Restaurant in Hazel Park

This used to be the "koziest" place to go. Unfortunately in the past, I have tried to get friends and co-workers to join in on this "kozy" stop. I took my African-American co-worker here, and we received slow, uninterested service. Maybe this was an off day or they had a busy morning, didn't really bother us too much. The next week my other co-worker went with her African-American date. The patrons stared at the couple and they didnt receive service for 25 minutes at the bar. They finally ordered their drinks and food while being stared and gawked at. They were so uncomfortable with the patrons and staff that they asked for their check and left. On the way out, a few women made sure to yell "BYE FELICIA!" If this wasnt bad enough, both got sick as soon as they got home. What was done to their food is unknown. Oh my gosh this place!! My husband and I absolutely had a super great time! We aren't from the area but ended up there just trying to find somewhere to go. We met Jacob and Melissa and I am so thankful for having meeting them! Not only were they beyond friendly but professional as well. They couldn't say enough good about the owners(her) which I just loved because I actually own a bar so it was so refreshing to hear such good things and be around just down to earth people! The food holy moly!! The corned beef egg roll was so so so good! And the dill dip that came with it I can only hope I figure out how to make it! Based on multiple tips, and a random observation that, day or night, whenever passing this place when it is open, there are always always cars in the lot, we tried this place for a beer & burger and I'm so glad!

It's clean, a renovated (but true to its roots) neighborhood bar, has excellent bar food, and friendly (if overwhelmed) service. The bar food and prices are on point. I had one of the best burgers I've had in a long time (from high-end fussy $20-30 bougie burgers to fast food drive-thru). I love burgers, and this one is a rockstar. It's simple but delicious, well cooked, and made with love.

This is the sort of place that sets the bar by which I will judge othersl bars and burgers. Good beer selection, amply stocked bar, and fair prices. Well...
