If I could leave zero stars, I would. Customer service, ethics, and professionalism doesn't seem to be a part of gym owner Amy Paolinelli's business model. Based on some of the other reviews I've seen on here, my complaint seems to be a trend at this gym. Amy has a trend of charging gym members, including myself, after they've canceled their memberships, claiming that they froze their account and didn't cancel. Or she just likes to make it very difficult to cancel. I canceled my gym membership in September of 2021 because I signed up at Lifetime Fitness in Green Valley. I turned in my fob that I used to access the gym and never returned since September of 2021. Fast forward to last week, and I see a charge in my account from Anytime Fitness. After going to the gym and speaking with manager Tristan, my account hadn't been canceled but had only been frozen for 3 months, meaning I've been having bi-monthly charges of $27.50 coming out of my account since December of 2021. I did feel like an idiot for not seeing these charges and I do accept some accountability for that, but I wasn't exactly looking for that charge because I thought I had canceled. Tristan told me he couldn't issue a refund of that size and I would need to speak with Amy. After repeated calls and texts, I finally reach her 3 days later. Amy immediately told me she would not give me a refund of any kind, even though she collected $2,020 from me since December 2021 and I never used the gym once since September 2021, which she knows. She found one email that she sent me saying that she was freezing my account, yet she supposedly doesn't have anything in writing from me asking for the cancellation or the freeze she claims I asked for. I think there was a misunderstanding and she froze my account instead of cancelling and I just never saw her email. I don't know if it went to spam or what, but I never saw or received that email, otherwise I would have responded and clarified the situation. I take accountability for my part in that as well. Even so, I thought maybe we could come to an agreement and she could give me a partial refund, especially since I hadn't been to the gym once and the email she sent me lines up with when I canceled my membership to go to Lifetime. But Amy wont' do anything and refuses to refund me a dollar. Amy doesn't care about her gym members at all and probably makes a killing off some people who sign up and rarely go to the gym. I am not like that. I'm a fit Marine veteran who goes to the 5-6 days per week. I had no reason to keep two memberships and would have used it had I kept it. Don't go to this gym. Read moreI’ve had gym memberships forever and I’m one of those people that actually use them. I joined this gym because it was close to home. Super small... a glorified hotel gym but it was fine for getting the job done. Covid hits and they allow you to freeze membership for a few months. Which makes sense as they are a super small gun that in no way allows for distancing. Out of the blue they start charging me again. I tell them I don’t feel safe until there is a vaccine and want to pause longer or cancel. I offered them 6 months plus the extra month they had just charged. They wouldn’t take it. They wanted an unreasonable amount and said that they were hurting too in the pandemic. Hello! Last I checked the government offered assistance for this type of thing. Nope, forget that, I guess they want members to pay for services they don’t feel safe using. Emailed half a dozen times to get this settled and now they won’t even respond. They have helped me through extremely difficult times and the people are amazing. There is no need to ever feel out of place because that is not how you will be or feel as it doesn’t exist here??? as some other gyms feel and seem. Not at this Anytime not ever..... you will only feel; fully supported and helpfulness and true caring that is unimaginable but absolutely true.
