Over the Easter weekend, I was installing a keyless entry system on my vehicle and thought I needed a pair of relays to drive the door locks. There is not a NAPA close to my house, so I purchased a set from Auto Zone. Monday evening, I realized I had purchased the wrong style of relay, so on Tuesday the 22nd, I went to this NAPAA location during lunch to purchase the correct relays.
There were two EP-27's left, and one of the packages was open. Not enough to make it obvious, but enough to remove the relay from the packaging. I was actually happy about this, because it meant that I could look at the pin-outs on the relay and make sure it was the correct type. The gentleman that checked me out (I do not recall his name, but he is the assistant manager, and we will talk about him again here shortly) may or may not have noticed the package was open; I thought I saw him fumble at one point as it tried to come out of the package, but I could be mistaken.
On the 23rd I returned the first set of relays I purchased to Auto Zone. I only mention this because I want to describe the experience. I informed the clerk at Auto Zone that I had not needed the relays, but I had opened one of them. He asked if it had been installed, to which I said it had not, at which point he gave the relay a once over, and took my word and accepted the opened relay for return. That same night, after doing some more research, I realized I didn't need any relays for my project after all, and decided to return them to NAPA the next day.
On the 24th I went back to the same NAPA store to return the set of relays I purchased from you, and was "helped" by the same assistant store manager that had checked me out when I bought them, and I was expecting a similar, pleasant experience to the one I had at Auto Zone. I showed him both relays and explained one was opened, but had been that way when I purchased it, and had not been used. To say his demeanor became somewhat cooler would be an understatement; It was clear to me that he saw me as suspect, and that I was trying to pull something over on him.
He informed me that he could not accept an opened relay, and again I explained that it had been opened before I purchased it and that I had not used it. He then examined the relay very closely, and then went to the back for a minute. When he returned, he informed me that he had sold it to me, it had certainly not been open when he did, and he would not accept it for return.
The implication of his statement was clear, and to be fair I have no doubt that there are people that would try something like returning a dead replaced relay. But in this case, he obviously remembered selling it to me, and the relay has absolutely no sign of damage or of being installed. I probably should have asked for the manager, but I was so put off by the gentleman's statement that I simply asked for the refund for the unopened item, and left.
That store is quite close to work for me, but from now on, I'll drive a little further up the street to Auto Zone, where I know I'll get...
Read morePurchased a part online and paid for it. I had the part shipped to the store and when I went to pick it up, the guy at the store tried to charge me $18 more to pick it up. He said that they had to get the part from their Jackson Mississippi warehouse and that was why they charged the extra fee. This was not mentioned when I purchased online or during the call I received from the local store right after I placed the order. They waited til I showed up to pick up the part. I guess they were hoping I would just pay them. I did not pay them and in fact, told them that they could keep their part and that I would buy it from a competitor. What kind of stupid policy is this? Is it my fault that the part came from a different warehouse? If there was going to be a charge, why wasn't it noted before I purchased the part? The fee they were going to charge me was about half the price of what the part cost! I found the part from a competitor for the same price and had it shipped directly to my home for free!!! Will not be returning to Napa in Henderson, Tennessee. Buy local...I think not! Napa know how? More like Napa...
