I don’t recommend the nail services here. I had gel manicures done here for a couple months, and I tried 4 or 5 different manicurists trying to find someone I liked, but I was disappointed. The service is rushed and sloppy, which doesn’t make senses because the salon is usually empty when I go. They got gel all over my cuticles, one person used a drill up against my skin, not on the nail bed, to remove live skin which mangled my cuticles and left me with chewed up skin, and several times the gel would lift off my nail and fall off after only a couple of days. Worst of all, several of the techs were so rough removing the gel between applications. One used a metal scraper without properly soaking the gel off first, and she took off huge chunks of my actual nail. Then to smooth it out, she filed away my actual nail bed to nothing. She accidentally filed a hole in the end of my nail, when I was trying to grow them out (which I never have a problem doing because my nails are very strong and healthy) and instead of apologizing, she said my nail split by itself and then cut all of nails off to match it. My nails are so thin now they are all splitting and breaking off ABOVE MY NAIL BED. I asked one manicurist to please not file my nail beds and she gave me a look and then the rest of my appointment was uncomfortable. I actually called the salon after the first appointment to let them know I wasn’t happy with the manicure. The manager called me back and asked me what happened, I explained to her and she offered to have my service redone for free which I thought was very generous. But then when I went in, the nail tech demanded to know what was wrong with my first service. She said that her management would be asking her. I didn’t think it was appropriate to discuss with her since I had already talked to the manager. It was uncomfortable and I was hoping to come in and relax. During another appointment, the salon’s social media person came over and recorded me with the manicurist. She didn’t ask me first, just told me to do it. I felt uncomfortable once again and put on the spot. I would rather not have been forced to help them record video without being asked or given some warning beforehand. And finally, I had asked the front desk at some point if the salon offered gel refills instead of complete removal of the gel each time, because it’s so much better for your nail to do a refill in between. The front desk staff told me that that was “impossible.” I advised them that it is not impossible and they argued with me. I know for a fact that it’s possible because my old salon where I had my nails done for 4 consecutive years used to do refills in between applications, and it was so much better for my nails. It’s one thing if your salon doesn’t offer the service, it’s another to argue with a customer and try to tell them it’s “impossible.” Overall disappointed and will find...
Read moreI had my bridal treatment at MCS, suggested by a friend who loves it there. I think everything is relative according to the type of service you will have there. They offer coffee, snacks and a beautiful place. My hair updo was amazing. I could have never had a better hair styling. She understood what I wanted, explained how it could be done to get closest to what I wanted according to my own hair texture and length, she was professional, knew what she was doing. Since the trial she was good and made the updo how it was suppose to look like at the big day. Very different from other places that I have tried before, which the trial was so horrible that I was afraid of the real day!
The big problem is the make up at MCS. I don't know if it was the person who did it or if their standard is like that. I can understand that aveda products are good, but for a professional make up, you HAVE TO HAVE the appropriate products. The girl who made my make up, did not apply any primer on my face (she did though in my eyes), did not have a powder foundation (which I personally prefer) or any professional foundation routine to highlight specific areas and hide others. She did not have a liquid or gel eyeliner to make a simple winged eyeliner. At the day of the wedding I had to bring my own primer and powder foundation. And I also improved her eye shadow application (when I got home I realized I looked like a ghost and my bridal party strongly agreed!) and my sister in law (thank goodness!) did my winged eyeliner at home. Seriously, to apply blush and terrible shaped eye shadow and lip stick I could have done it myself. Honestly, I don't know if I had bad luck with the person, but definitely, MCS do not have real professional make up standard products. A good professional HAS TO HAVE at least a liquid or gel eye liner and a make up primer.
Ok, ok, I know it could be personal and others could have liked that make up I got. , but that's what the reviews are made for. For describing personal experiences.
It is a shame I don't remember the name of the woman who did my updo, she is awesome. For make up, think twice and do a trial first. Maybe you can do better by watching some tutorials...
Read moreHonestly I don’t know where to start….I had a bad feeling about this salon when I went in for my consultation the woman at the front desk was rude and rushing. Anytime I tried to ask or answer a question she’d cut me off before I could say anything. I tried to give them all the benefit of the doubt and showed up for my appointment regardless. Michelle the stylist even said “I’m surprised you guys came in” then proceeded to rush and dye my entire head in what felt like only a few minutes. I have A LOT of hair so I assumed with how quickly she went that my hair would have brown pieces in it (the dye was red my natural hair is brown) my hair is in fact splotchy and in addition to missing pieces she got dye all over my shirt and didn’t say anything. So it’s ruined…then we moved on to my haircut and I told her I was hesitant because I have a hard time with people cutting my curly hair (pictures are after the blow out she did so it’s obviously straight) her response was “I have curly hair” that doesn’t mean you’re comfortable cutting it…I wasn’t trying to insult her so I let her try. My bangs were choppy and instead of looking at my hair she proceeded to cut more off of the side I said looked choppy making my “curtain bangs” DRAMATICALLY different lengths. Then I got home and realized b out only ate my bangs uneven overall my entire haircut was botched. My ends are clearly different lengths also…. I’m extremely disappointed and overall don’t like what I was left with or the service my friend and I got…I genuinely can’t believe the stylist left us leave the salon looking the way we did but I stopped saying anything because I was scared she’d just continue chopping off my hair. Also, I don’t think she was well versed on cutting curly hair based off of the way she cut my friends hair…She wasn’t listening at all she was in too much of a rush to finish that she didn’t take us seriously. I didn’t want her making it worse than it already is. I had high hopes despite being hesitant and honestly will not be returning or recommending this salon to anyone…I should’ve trusted my gut and avoided the salon all...
